"the united states is a country on earth with fifty states. it's powerful and it's american!"
— The introduction to this video. There's more to USA than this, however.

history of the united states, i guess is a 12-minute video that summarizes the history of the United States, from the Clovis culture of the Ice Age to the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020. Unlike bill wurtz's history of japan and history of the entire world, i guess, this video was made by krispykarim, a YouTube content creator who also makes soundtracks and short animation videos.

You can watch it here.

wassup my tropers, where my spices at?:

  • America Takes Over the World: By the year 24928325, America will become powerful enough to "buy the universe"—assuming humanity doesn't go extinct.
  • Alphabet News Network: When Spain sets up a triangular trade network between America, Africa and Europe as part of the Columbian Exchange, this news is reported through the LNN—standing for “Legit News Network”.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: During the Enlightenment, American colonists read the intellectual works of John Locke, Adam Smith and Toad.
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
    • The video begins by describing the United States of America as “American”.
    • Obama’s presidency brings about the introduction of Obamacare.
It’s like healthcare, but from Obama.
  • Mutually Assured Destruction: Both the United States and Soviet Union think about the possibility that if they fire their nuclear weapons at each other, Earth will explode into pieces. Thus, they refuse to carry out a nuclear war and instead turn to manipulating other conflicts during the Cold War.
United States: Yeah, maybe we shouldn't do that, but I still hate you.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Eli Whitney claims he "ended slavery" by inventing the cotton gin, but the invention causes the "rate of slavery in usa" to dramatically increase from circa-1800 onwards.
  • Nuclear Option: When Truman assumes the role of US President during WWII, Admiral Kelly Turner points out that an invasion of Japanese mainland will lead to casualties on the Americans’ side. Truman allows the US military to nuke Japan to prevent those casualties.
  • Totally Radical: How Columbus (from Europe tm) talks to the Indians.
Columbus: Yo, wassup, Indians! Where my spices at?!
  • Running Gag: There are a few such gags in this video:
    • The presentation of two sides fighting each other in a war, stylized to resemble the versus screen for a fighting game. This gag was used for the American Revolution, War of 1812 and American Civil War.
    • The depiction of one side defeating the other side in a war, in the form of an animation clip where a black chess piece grows arms and punches a white chess piece into the sky. The winning side’s picture is pasted over the black piece while the losing side’s picture is put onto the white piece.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Columbus arrives at America in 1492 to engage in the spice trade, but his fleet unknowingly spread plagues that kill a huge chunk of the American natives.
  • Verbal Backspace: James Sherman—not William Sherman—served as Vice President of the United States under the President William Sher-TAFT.

—then we buy the universe, or maybe go extinct i don't know.
