"Hello, everyone, and welcome to... Feather Adventures!"

Feather Adventures is a Minecraft series on the YouTube channel of Sqaishey Quack, as well as their longest-running series, having run since June 2nd, 2014. Together with their friends, their bunnies Stori and Ebby, and their other pets, Sqaishey builds, explores, and fights in the world they call home.

The official playlist for the series can be found here, while the "Story Playlist" can be found here.

Since Sqaishey's songs "LaLaLaLaLaDoBeDoBeDo", "Quack If You Wanna", "FunBot 200,000", "Dream", "Jungle", and "Christmas Pyjamas" all take place in the Feather Adventures world, they are treated as part of the Feather Adventures universe here, so this page covers tropes relevant to these songs as well.

Feather Adventures contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: Several of the buildings have alliterative names, like the Super Spectacular Storage Room.
  • Alternate Universe: In-Universe, there are several alternate versions of Feather Adventures that are only accessible by portals during special occasions or episodes.
    • The first known one is only accessible on Halloween, first appearing in Episode 224, "New Dimension". The alternate Sqaishey is called 'Sqoshey', the entire world has a much darker atmosphere, mobs like spiders and phantoms are friendly while cows and horses are hostile, and all the pets are bunnies.
    • Another example occurs in Episode 336, "Let It Snow!", where an alternate Sqaishey named 'Sqlushey' appears through a portal. Sqlushey looks like a snowman version of Sqaishey and they leave a trail of snow wherever they go, and appears to have some control over ice and snow. They have also been seen in later Christmas Episodes.
    • A third one appears in Episode 344, "A Polluted World", where the place looks almost normal at first glance (though a bit darker and less cheery) and houses the green 'Sporshey', who spends a lot of their time clearing out rubbish and smog clouds and shifts between bright and greyish shades of green depending on the level of pollution of the land. The land becomes a lot brighter and more colourful when the rubbish and smog are cleared out, and once more trees and flowers are planted around.
    • A fourth one makes its debut in Episode 377, "The Water Mystery!!", which is home to the light blue 'Sploshey'. The world itself resembles a dried-up, desert version of Feather Adventures with only tiny pockets of water, and is filled with bleached coral and dead plant life. Once Sploshey recovers their stolen trident, they are able to restore their world to a stormy but lush world of prismarine, sandstone, and bright and healthy coral. The episode also introduces Sqorchey, a fiery, red version of Sqaishey who turns out to be the real culprit of the trident theft.
  • April Fools' Day: The non-canonical episode "Playing Tag", released on April 1st, sees Sqaishey in Stampy's Lovely World but pretending that they're still in Feather Adventures, down to calling Fizzy Elephant and William Beaver "Ebby" and "Stori" and claiming that the Love Garden was the Feather Friends Pond.
  • Chased Off into the Sunset: How the music video of "FunBot 200,000" ends.
  • Color Motif: Yellow, after Sqaishey's duck skin, and orange as a secondary colour for their beak.
  • Christmas Episode: There's been a few.
    • 2014 has Episode 70, "Merry Christmas".
    • 2015 has Episode 173, also titled "Merry Christmas".
    • 2016 has Episode 231, "Christmas Special".
    • 2019 has three Christmas episodes devoted to building a gingerbread cottage; Episode 287, "Gingerbread Duck", Episode 288, "Baking The Roof", and Episode 289, "Gingerbread Cottage".
    • 2021 has Episode 336, "Let It Snow!".
    • 2022 has Episode 359, "A Frozen World".
  • Darker and Edgier: Episode 377, "The Water Mystery!!", is darker in tone and aesthetic than the other times Sqaishey has visited an alternate version of Feather Adventures. Sploshey is initially hostile to Sqaishey upon arrival, and the episode introduces an antagonistic version of Sqaishey, whom Sqaishey and Sploshey have to run through an extensive adventure map-style route to escape from, with said antagonist in hot pursuit.
  • Distaff Counterpart: Can be seen as one to Stampy's Lovely World, though the 'distaff' part no longer applies due to Sqaishey's shifting gender identity over the course of the series. Both series are Minecraft Let's Plays with a focus on building, Stampy's frequently been a guest in Feather Adventures and vice-versa for Sqaishey, and they're implied to take place in the same universe. The two of them are even Happily Married in real life. However, while the SLW has an overarching storyline, Feather Adventures is mostly episodic and Lighter and Softer in tone whenever there is lore.
  • Earth Day Episode: Episode 344, "A Polluted World", is released on Earth Day 2022 just after the year's Easter special, and has a Green Aesop.
  • Elemental Rivalry: The pyrokinetic Sqorchey debuts in the same episode as the hydrokinetic Sploshey as the main antagonist.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: In a more literal sense than usual. Unlike other Alternate Universe counterparts of Sqaishey, Sploshey is initially hostile to Sqaishey when they first meet. However, the two find that they make a great team while going on a quest in the Nether together to reclaim Sploshey's stolen trident from the antagonistic, fiery Sqorchey.
  • Fisher King: Inverted. Sporshey's appearance and Green Thumb ability is limited by how much pollution there is in their land. When the land is unpolluted, they are very energetic and quick, have a strong grasp on their powers and vibrant green feathers, and emit spore particles wherever they go; when the land is highly polluted, their powers weaken and their feathers become a much more greyish shade of green.
  • Fourth-Wall Mail Slot: The Feather Friends Pond functions as one, though Sqaishey also gives Shout-Outs to fans who don't create content (and instead help in other ways), and on a few instances, other people outside the community.
  • Green Aesop: Episode 344, "A Polluted World", covers Sqaishey investigating a mysterious portal that transports them to an alternate Feather Adventures, where they help the equivalent of themself clearing away pollution and restoring the land such that they can regain their Green Thumb abilities and control over the land. It's released on Earth Day (April 22nd) of 2022 to boot.
  • Green Thumb: Sporshey has powers over nature and plant life, but is also limited by the level of pollution on their land. When the land is heavily polluted, Sporshey loses their powers and their feathers' colours fade and turn grey, and has to clear away the pollutants to regain their colour, energy, and powers.
  • Halloween Episode: There's been one every year except for 2016 and 2018.
    • 2014 has Episode 54, "Halloween".
    • 2015 has Episode 157, "Trick or Treat?".
    • 2015 has Episode 224, "New Dimension", notable as the first appearance of Sqoshey and the alternate versions of Feather Adventures.
    • 2017 has Episode 266, "Sqoshey Tricks Halloween".
    • 2019 has Episode 280, "Trick & Treat".
    • 2020 has Episode 320, "Sqoshey's Treats".
    • 2021 has Episode 334, "Halloween Pumpkin Patch".
    • 2022 has Episode 356, "Halloween Pies".
  • Happily Married: Sqaishey mentions their marriage to Stampy in Episode 308, "Redstone Erm?" and him teaching them to do the redstone for the PVP arena.
  • Hero of Another Story: Given that the Lovely World is mentioned several times throughout the series, Stampy would be this — building his own shops and minigames in his home world, as well as waging an ongoing conflict against his long-time arch-enemy.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: At the end of the music video for "FunBot 200,000", after FunBot blows everyone up and Sqaishey and their friends respawn, realizing that they all now have these destructive robots in their home worlds, Sqaishey tries to pull this on their friends. It doesn't work and the others end up chasing after Sqaishey in their anger.
Sqaishey: Oh, look, is that the time? Um, I have to go and watch paint dry! Goodbye, guys! (pulls a Screw This, I'm Outta Here)
  • An Ice Person: In Episode 336, "Let It Snow!", Sqlushey covers Feather Adventures in snow for the holiday season.
  • Making a Splash: Sploshey, the aquatic version of Sqaishey, has hydrokinetic powers which work even in the Nether dimension. However, they only have this ability if they have their trident.
  • Meaningful Name: Sporshey generates spores around them when they are healthy, which is when the land is clean and unpolluted.
  • Medium Blending: Episode 300, "Special Well", is a stop-motion video made out of crafts and paper, as opposed to being presented in the digital block game world the series is usually set in.
  • Multi-Part Episode: Episodes 343 and 344, "Hop-less Easter" and "A Polluted World", respectively.
  • Musical Episode: The aptly-named "Feather Adventures: The Musical" is one, with three songs being sung over the course of the video.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Sqaishey is a duck, and have stated on their social media bios that they are genderfluid. This is, of course, subverted in Real Life, as they are a human that is still genderfluid.
  • Noodle Incident/Time Travel Episode: Sqaishey apparently travelled four months back in time to give past!Sqaishey advice after reaching 100,000 subscribers. It manifests not as an official Feather Adventures episode, but a milestone celebration song titled "Quack If You Wanna".
  • Quacking Up: Sqaishey is a duck and many of their silly antics are recorded in the series.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The eyes of FunBot from Sqaishey's song, "FunBot 200,000" turn red when they want to make things explode.
  • Savvy Cat, Energetic Duck: In Sqaishey's song "Jungle", which takes place in the world of Feather Adventures, Stampy is the safety-conscious cat to Sqaishey's adventurous duck, and gets dragged along for an adventure through the jungle. He learns to loosen up throughout the course of the song.
  • Shared Universe:
    • While it's not explicitly so in the official series lore, there have been many hints that Feather Adventures takes place in the same universe as Stampy's Lovely World.
      • According to a Freeze-Frame Bonus in "Quack If You Wanna", Sqaishey's 100,000 subscriber special in musical form, the Lovely World and Feather Adventures are close enough that digging a hole is an effective way to travel between them.
      • During Stampy's guest appearance in the Feather Adventures episode Episode 309, "Forest Fight!!!", he discovers a mechanism involving gates which allows players to 'swim' on land, which he later utilizes in the Lovely World in the form of the post-hiatus minigame 'Ground Control'. Sqaishey even remarks on this in the episode.
Sqaishey: Oh, is this the start of Stampy coming up with a new minigame? I feel that it is. I-I need your help on it if you wanna make it in Feather Adventures.
Stampy: (enthusiastically crouching and uncrouching in affirmation)
Sqaishey: (half-laughing) Yes, definitely, he's definitely thinking [up] something.
    • In a later milestone celebration song, "FunBot 200,000", Sqaishey mentions that they put two FunBots in Stampy's world, one in Netty's, and one in LongShot's, implying that other than the Lovely World, Feather Adventures takes place in the same universe as Netty's Dreamland and whatever LongShot's home world is.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: The eponymous FunBots from their song, "FunBot 200,000" blew everything up.
  • Theme Naming:
    • Sqaishey's dogs and cat are mostly named after words related to ducks or water — Waddles, Puddles, Peep, Nibbles, Egg, Splash, and Feathers. The one exception is Dovey, who is named after the term "lovey dovey" as he was born on Valentine's Day.
    • Most of Sqaishey's alternate counterparts have similar names that start with an 'S' (followed by a plosive) and end with '-shey', and pertain to their worlds and powers:
      • Sqoshey's name sound like "Squash-ey", where a squash is a gourd closely related to pumpkins; they first debut in a Halloween Episode and are from a spooky world.
      • Sqlushey's name alludes to slush, a mixture of snow and water, and has cryokinetic powers.
      • Sporshey's name is rooted in the word 'spore', and is from a lush world. They also give Sqaishey spore blossoms as gifts.
      • Sploshey's name is a nod to an informal form of the word 'splash' and has powers over water.
      • Sqorchey, introduced in the same episode as Sploshey, is the Odd Name Out for having a name which ends with '-chey' as opposed to '-shey', although they are phonetically similar (IPA: [ʃiː] vs. [tʃiː]). However, their name also references their scorching abilities.
    • Their Green Thumb AU counterpart, Sporshey, has dogs and a cat mainly named after nature-related terms — Leaf, River, Seeds, Twig, Bark, and Shrub. The main exceptions are the dogs named Tofu (after the soybean-derived foodstuff which is popular among vegans and vegetarians) and Recycle, respectively. They also have a bee named Lotus as a Non-Human Sidekick.
  • Time Master: Implied for Sqlushey, who is able to change the time from day to night for their snowfall.
  • To Be Continued: Episode 343, "Hop-less Easter", ends with this.
  • Weather Manipulation:
    • Using their trident, Sploshey is able to control not just water but also rain and lightning and thunder.
    • Having An Ice Person powers, Sqlushey can cover the Feather Adventures world in snow for the holiday season.
  • With Lyrics: The first song in Episode 100, "Feather Adventures: The Musical", adds lyrics to the background music that plays at the beginning of every Feather Adventures episode.

"So thank you for watching, and I'll see you in the next video. Goodbye!"
