In December 10, 2020, famous Minecraft speedrunner and
YouTuber Dream decided to create an alt account. This account, Dream Shorts, was very different from Dream's normal channel. Rather than uploading
Minecraft challenges, Dream would upload short, scripted skits performed in Minecraft, often less than a minute long. These shorts were made with the help of
GeorgeNotFound,
Sapnap,
BadBoyHalo, and Antfrost, with occasional guest star appearances from fellow content creators such as
Technoblade and
TommyInnit, taking time to poke fun at cliches,
themselves, or just be funny. The channel can be found

Tropes used in Dream Shorts:
- Affectionate Parody: Many shorts are parodies of famous movies or shows. For example, "Dream the Explorer" parodies Dora the Explorer, "Dream, I am your father" parodies The Empire Strikes Back, "Dream Team goes to Hogwarts" parodies Harry Potter, and "Minecraft Gordon Ramsay" parodies Gordon Ramsay.
- All for Nothing: In "Dream Team Stranded On An Island," Sapnap proposes they eat Patches, Dream's cat, so they don't starve. Though he resists at first, Dream eventually relents and lets Patches be killed, only for the team to be rescued mere seconds later.
- Awesomeness by Analysis: In "Dream In Minecraft Manhunt", Dream calculates the exact way he should move to dodge an arrow by 5 pixels while also perfectly retaining his forward momentum.
- Black Comedy Animal Cruelty: Usually courtesy of Sapnap, who is renowned to be a Chronic Pet Killer on the Dream SMP.
- Double Entendre: In "Minecraft Pizza Delivery":
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: Dream, as seen in "Dream Team Stranded On An Island", where he is very reluctant to allow his cat, Patches, to be killed for food.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: The Trope Namer is parodied for one of the skits, with Bad as Darth Vader and Dream as Luke Skywalker. Rather than be horrified at this revelation, Dream is overjoyed to finally meet his father, and happily embraces him.
- Mook Chivalry: In "Dream Gets Robbed", George, Bad, and Ant are trying to mug Dream by individually fist-fighting him. It doesn't go well for them.
- Visual Pun: The profile picture of the channel is the same as Dream's usual one, except the MS Paint-Dream is depicted as literally being short.
- Wildlife Commentary Spoof: In "GeorgeNotFound In His Natural Habitat...", the narrator (Dream) observes George going through a vibrantly-colored flower field, and also makes note of George's odd sleeping habits — here, he's depicted as nocturnal and capable of sleeping for 14+ hours a day.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity:
- In "Dream Team goes to Hogwarts", Bad teaches Dream, George, and Sapnap the Killing Curse, which they are meant to practice on some chickens. All goes well until Sapnap kills his chicken... and all the other chickens... and the whole class!
- Sapnap does it again in "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility", where he gets the ability to levitate blocks and explode them. He gets a flashback of Bad telling him that With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility... and proceeds to wreak havoc on a city with his power.
