"DX" (formerly known as DXFan619, real name Jorge Valentin) is a YouTube reviewer.
Tropes in his videos include:
- Actually Pretty Funny: He's laughed at one joke in Bubsy: Paws on Fire.
- Artifact Title: For his "Anime I F*cking Hate" review of Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, he instead states that it's actually So Okay, It's Average and thinks it's decent while providing commentary on how people shouldn't be Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch just because these new mediums are associated with other bad mediums.
- Big "WHAT?!":
- When he hears the first tape in Five Nights at Freddy's.Phone Guy: Yeah, it's amazing how someone can survive without a frontal lobe.
DX: What? - The Quiet Man:
- When it turns out that it was Taye who killed Dane's mother, not Isaac.
- When Dane comes back to life and has a Heroic Second Wind, rising up from behind Taye, DX starts to say "What?!" as he bursts into laughter over the absurdity of the situation.
- His reaction to The Dog Was the Mastermind plot twist at the end of the first playthrough.DX: WHAT?! IT WAS A SETUP?!
- When he hears the first tape in Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Blatant Lies: The descriptions for his Countdown to the Worst series. According to DX, the YouTube algorithm messes with his videos if they contain negative vocabulary, which is also why the first couple of videos are the only ones with the full title while the rest have it abbreviated.
- Catchphrase:
- "This game/anime gets the final rating of... (say it with me folks...) REST. IN. PISS."
- "This ____ is terrible. Everything about this is terrible."
- From his Ride to Hell: Retribution playthrough and sometimes in subsequent videos, whenever he's dodging by running in a zigzag pattern: "Serpentine, serpentine! Evasion manuever six!"
- Cluster F-Bomb: Thinks Mickey Rourke does this way too much in Rogue Warrior.
- Everybody Has Standards:
- In his review of The 3rd Birthday, while admitting that he does like fanservice, he criticizes the sexual objectification of Aya since it takes away focus from her status as an Action Girl in the previous games and some aspects of the game are shameless in how they present it (ex. a Shower Scene, stripperific levels of Clothing Damage, etc.).
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": His old Patreon profile had his full name, but he prefers to go by DX.
- The Faceless: He has stated in one of his Q&A's that he doesn't ever intend on doing a face reveal (unless he got 100 million subscribers).
- Failed a Spot Check: In his review of Mars of Destruction, he complains that the characters never blink... just as the video shows one of the characters blinking right as he says that. He admits in the comments that this was one of his biggest editing fails.
- Fanservice:
- He has reviewed Prison School and Shimoneta.
- His Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma gameplay video originally had a thumbnail of the game's women (polecats and the final boss) lounging around with Kuma, which was later changed to just a view of the polecats' legs with Kuma's mask.
- Formula-Breaking Episode:
- His School Days review uses three audience perspectives as an experiment.
- "Movies I F*cking Hate" only has one entry (Fifty Shades of Grey) and he's since stated that he didn't like how he did it and intended to reboot the "series"... until YouTube's new copyright policies put that plan to a halt.
- His reviews of K-On! and RWBY. By DX's admission, moe anime like K-On! aren't his type, but he finds this particular anime to be fine. RWBY on the other hand is merely an animesque web animation.
- His anime reviews of Prison School and Shimoneta, two risque ecchi that also stand out among his other anime reviews since he finds these two good and they also focus on sexual content.
- Large Ham: Sometimes does this to mock the melodrama of whatever he's ripping on.
- List of Transgressions: Did this to Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing and Aliens: Colonial Marines, the latter in the "Top 20 Worst Games Ever" video.
- "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: When talking about Ride to Hell: Retribution in his Worst Games of the Decade list, he dug through the game's files to find that the reason Jake survived his wounds because he was experimented on in Vietnam.
- DX: That's not a joke.
- Oh, Crap!: Usually only does this if something sucky gets him into a bad situation, sometimes if he's scared enough (which isn't often).
- Understandably has these moments while playing Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Has one while playing Drake of the 99 Dragons, where he almost falls off during the segment where you're supposed to use canopies on the side while jumping out of a window or else you fall to your death because there's falling damage.DX: Wha— OH SHIT! [makes it in time] Okay, so I almost shit my pants back there...
- Old Shame:
- He doesn't like how he did his Fifty Shades of Grey review as his first entry to his "Movies I F*cking Hate" series and wanted to reboot the series... but then YouTube's new copyright policies put a stop to that.
- He apparently doesn't like his older reviews.
- He thinks his Ergo Proxy review was the weakest.
- Piss-Take Rap. Mickey Rourke does one over the credits of Rogue Warrior, which DX makes fun of.
- The Power of Friendship: Thinks that Fairy Tail overemphasizes this too much.
- Screwed by the Lawyers:
- He intended on rebooting his "Movies I F*cking Hate" series since he didn't like how he did his Fifty Shades of Grey review, but then YouTube's new copyright policies put a stop to that.
- He no longer does his "____ I F*cking Hate/Love" series's as YouTube's monetization system has since been harder on obscenities in titles.
- He had to take down his Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta playthrough due to copyright issues.
- His Countdown to the Worst (of the Decade) series is abbreviated and has totally genuine descriptions of how good the entries are because YouTube won't recommend his videos if they contain negative keywords.
- Shout-Out: His format is inspired by Adult Swim's bumpers.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: DX himself, and the aforementioned protagonist of Rogue Warrior, Richard Marsinco.
- Take That!: He sometimes takes small swipes at game developers, but this particular one from reviewing some games on the Steam library stands out. "I say this seriously, and with no comedic intent. Primitive, stop making games. Just stop! They're fucking awful!"
- Tsundere: Describes Julis as this and criticizes how fast she switches between tsun and dere in her first scene alone.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!:
- In Guise of the Wolf when he learns that you have to crouch (a simple mechanic that was never talked about in-game) in order to progress past a certain point.
- The plot twist in The Quiet Man when it turns out Taye was the one who killed Dane's mother, not Isaac, since this was never hinted at throughout the game.
- Also from The Quiet Man playthrough, when it turned out the police detective was the Quiet Man.DX: What?! He's the Quiet Man?! How is he the guy that kicks your ass?!
