Brocéliande is a French web-series of fan videos based on Kaamelott, started in 2021.

Created and written by Youri Gone and hosted on his YouTube channel Capsul Pop, it is played by various French youtubers — notably Benjamin "Benzaie" Daniel and Sébastien Rassiat (Seb from Joueur du Grenier) — as well as a couple of genuine actors from Kaamelott (but not in the same roles).

The series depicts the fey denizens of the enchanted forest of Brocéliande as they come into conflict with King Arthur's court. Each episode refers to a specific episode of Kaamelott season 1 or 2, showing what happened before, after or off-screen, from the viewpoint of the other side.

Four episodes so far.

Brocéliance provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion:
    • Seb's druid character is called "Maître Bien-Assez". This is a nod to his frequent role as "David Goodenough" on Joueur du Grenier.
    • At one point, Master Briat tells Pace the elf « Mais ça dépasse l'entendement ! » ("This is beyond comprehension!") This is the catchphrase of a character created by Benzaie for his channel.
  • Bait-and-Switch: During a battle, Ziff the redcap screams a Big "NO!" when an orc by his side is killed by an arrow. When Ferrigno tells him to be strong and that he died with dignity, Ziff retorts he doesn't care about that, the dead orc was owing him money!
  • Batman Gambit: The druids organizing the Assembly of the Raven don't want Merlin to show up (since they're scheming against him), despite the Assembly being open to all druids. So, they inform him it is themed this year on telling jokes, as well as without alcohol. Some express their doubts and find it risky, but in the end it works just fine and Merlin declines.
  • Death of the Old Gods: The main source of conflict between Brocéliande and Kaamelott is Arthur introducing the One God religion to Britain, which the druids and witches oppose.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The first episode, "Tension", refers both to the tense confrontation between the elves and the unseen men from Kaamelott, as well as the "tension" of their bow strings, which is discussed.
  • Enchanted Forest: The setting of the series, the mystical forest of Brocéliande, home to elves, korrigans and other feys, and refugee of druids, witches and others opposing the new order of King Arthur and the Grail Quest.
  • Grammar Correction Gag: Throughout the episode "Le Rassemblement de corbeaux", the characters (most prominently Ferrigno the orc) keep reminding the others that their council is "the Assembly of the Raven", not "the Assembly of Ravens", as the latter would imply they call themselves ravens, which they don't.
  • Hilarious Outtakes: "Brocéliande: Le Bêtisier"
  • Irony: The roles given to Guillaume Briat and Bô Gaultier de Kermoal. In Kaamelott, they respectively play a buffoonish and moronic king and a mook whose only lines are screaming. Here, their characters are probably the smartest and most eloquent of the druid assembly.
  • Not-So-Omniscient Council of Bickering: Well, being based in Kaamelott, where this trope is omnipresent, it shouldn't be a big surprise that the druid assembly spend most of their time bickering (when not busy drinking).
  • Parody Assistance: A couple of minor Kaamelott actors play roles in Brocéliande, notably Guillaume Briat (the Burgund King) and Bô Gaultier de Kermoal (Attila's bodyguard), although they don't reprise their roles from the series.
  • Period Piece, Modern Language: Being based on Kaamelott, Brocéliande follows the same pattern of using very modern French in an Arthurian Legend setting.
Odilon: Mother? I'm leaving! I'm going to war!
Mother: Why should I give a flying fuck!?
  • The Place: Modeled after Kaamelot, Brocéliande is both a One-Word Title and the setting of the series, the mythical Brocéliande forest.
  • Pointy Ears: Sported by the elves and the redcap. The prosthetic ears are the only hint they are elves, truly.
  • Retcon: The series explores aspects of season 1 of Kaamelott, re-framing some events. Notably, the Forgetfulness Spell not only explains why Arthur found a dead raven at his door in "Le Signe", but also why the Knights of the Round Table have so much trouble remembering their fallen comrades in the episode "Spangelhelm".
  • Robbing the Dead: Ziff spends most of his intro episode rummaging through the satchel of a fellow orc fallen in combat, under the pretext that he was owing him money.
  • Shout-Out: The orc named Ferrigno is a clear allusion to Lou Ferrigno, famous for playing another muscular green guy.
  • Sympathetic Magic: The coven of witches suggest to the druids that they'd obtain a personal item from Merlin so that they'd cast a spell on him through it. Master de Kermoal points out they already have a spy at Merlin's lab, but it is so much in disarray that it's hard to find anything useful. Then the elves show a shark tooth they'd stolen from the lab.
  • Too Many Halves: Blööm claims that Merlin is "half-druid, half-human, half-sorcerer, half-dragon". He's not exactly well-informed, missing out the canonical half-demon part.
