Brandon and his co-host Kelly. Yes, that is a Walmart bag.

"You deserve to laugh."

Brandon Farris is a YouTube personality going back to 2013 who specializes in viewing and applying "life hacks", buying and trying items advertised on the Internet, doing Let's Play videos primarily of the horror game genre, trying exotic foods, and allowing Google Translate to give him instructions on cooking.

Brandon is easily frightened and tends to do things as incompetently as possible.

Part of Brandon's usual routine is to overreact to things that frighten him and perform different tasks while offering commentary up until the task has failed, during which he starts complaining about the applicability of something he can't get to work (so long as he is not writhing in pain). Originally starting his channel as a vlog, he found a niche in failing to perform tasks as seen on Tik Tok, playing with random objects he bought from the Internet, playing video games which he knows will cause him to scream and jump away in terror, trying foods from other countries or bugs that have been made edible (in spite of a crippling fear of anything with more than four legs), and following Google translations of recipes as close to the letter as possible just to destroy his kitchen. This is on top of doing activities with his friends and family. His main channel features Maria Gloria and Cameron Domasky, fellow Youtubers with the former being Brandon's girlfriend.

Although he tries to maintain a curse-free and friendly channel, many of his earlier videos feature clips which are adult-oriented.

Brandon provides examples of:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: Some of his Motor Mouth moments start with him rattling off a sentence full of alliteration.
  • Amusing Injuries: A staple of Brandon's channel that comes in three general forms: having a life hack backfire or having to exert himself in a small room already full of objects, taking abuse from Cameron (usually after Brandon has inflicted the same on him), or, as found on his gaming channel, flailing about after being frightened by a jumpscare and smacking a nearby object. He usually recovers quickly, and it is most often self-inflicted.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Goes hand-in-hand with his puns. For instance:
Brandon: (in a grave tone) "So, here's the pickle." (produces a jar of coke-soaked pickles from a ball pit)
  • Black Humor: In spite of Brandon's dedication to a child-friendly main channel, he occasionally slips into this. For example, Things TIKTOK Made Me Buy! features him tangling himself in a string of LEDs and miming hanging himself.
  • Brick Joke: Once was so frightened by a jumpscare that he randomly ripped the cover off the microphone and shoved it in his mouth. In the next video, he comments about a hair from his beard being caught in the cover as a result.
  • Butt-Monkey: Invoked for his videos, usually by failing to perform a life hack or allowing Cameron or Gloria to inflict pain on him. His main premise is to make people laugh (as indicated in the description on his channel), and he prefers to do this by doing horrible things or allowing horrible things to happen to himself.
    • Cameron on occasion as well, usually because of Brandon.
  • Camera Abuse: Being front and center to Brandon's antics, the cameras and other equipment he uses for his videos take some of the abuse, normally in the form of being covered in exploding liquid.
  • Collector of the Strange: Regularly peruses Amazon and Tik Tok for items to use in his videos. This has included two pairs of silicon feet, a riding crop, and about one hundred thousand plastic balls for a ball pit. Not all in the same video.
  • Companion Cube: A canvas portrait of "Kelly". One Q&A video reveals that Brandon had received the protrait by mistake and contacted the real "Kelly" about it. Which doesn't explain why he still has the portrait. He has since made it his co-host and regularly addresses the portrait in the middle of his usual antics, most of which the portrait is capable of surviving better than Brandon.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Invoked by running recipes through Google Translate, though this mostly seems to hinge on him actually putting something on the stove or in the oven rather than just smearing it all over his kitchen.
    • He also likes to try quick recipes on Tik Tok. The ones that are remotely edible are few and far between.
  • Creepy Child: Autumn tends to do things that scare Brandon, often becoming the subject of one of his car vlogs.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Brandon will turn this way while playing a game that he is constantly dying on, his surprise giving way to irritation at being stuck and seeing the same jumpscare over and over.
    • Cameron and Gloria, both because of Brandon's antics.
  • Delayed Reaction: While trying a soda-spraying gun that Brandon bought based on a Tik Tok video, Cameron takes a few minutes to realize that Brandon actually has Coke in the house and that Brandon offering him a drink earlier was an excuse to make him drink hotdog water.
  • Double Entendre: Brandon fills his rooms with plastic balls for children's ball pits. Both him and Gloria let the jokes fly like this likely because Autumn is with them.
  • Double Take: He occasionally has to rewind videos to make sure he correctly understood what was happening in the video when the people in the video seem to be doing something he does not expect.
  • Epic Fail: Brandon's main schtick is to view life hacks from YouTube and Tik Tok and attempt to imitate them with whatever he happens to have on-hand. His success is limited, but there are occasions when something will not end in a spectacular mess or leave him in pain.
  • Even the Subtitler Is Stumped: Brandon's editor winds up subtitling gibberish due to Brandon, and sometimes Cameron, saying something incomprehensible on-camera.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Brandon's editor, especially on the gaming channel, likes to deliver some snarky comments with the subtitles. These include making fun of Brandon in PLAYING FNAF SECURITY BREACH for having to restart the game because he did not see the save stations. In You Scream You LOSE!, when Brandon and Cameron prompt him to display who is winning, the editor snarks about them being in a tie.
  • Groin Attack: Has had a few accidents which have nailed him in the groin.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: During the You Scream You LOSE! video, his attempt to frighten Cameron by firing a large confetti popper behind him goes bad because he's holding it backwards, causing him to shoot himself in the crotch.
    • His attempt to get Cameron with a Shocktato leads to a game of hot potato until the device discharges in Brandon's hands. He implies that the shock caused him to soil himself as he excuses himself from the room.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Cameron unwittingly drinks a bottle of camel milk with Brandon and doesn't think to look at the label until both of them are absolutely revolted by the taste (and the chewing). Otherwise, Cameron tries to avoid falling for this by asking before he eats or drinks whatever Brandon hands him.
  • Literal-Minded: Combines it with recipes run through Google Translate. This can lead to some unusual steps in which Brandon does nothing for the actual food preparation (such as randomly looking over his shoulder at a bowl of cranberries or treating a bottle of honey like a child).
  • Mad Libs Catchphrase: Brandon will randomly utter "Save a (insert context-relative item). Ride a cowboy." in the course of trying out different life hacks, playing on Big & Rich's "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)".
  • Motor Mouth: His response to failing a life hack (either by his own incompetence or the life hack itself being complete bull) is to sit there and rant at the video, either for its misdirection or the horrible acting. He will also tear off on rants whenever he dies in a horror game.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Brandon often does not mind tearing his clothes in order to modify them to fit the Wardrobe Malfunction scenario presented by a Tik Tok video. Other times, he tries using the wrong items to improvise clothing and winds up quite exposed; the page image comes from a life hack using a trash bag, but all Brandon had were shopping bags.
  • Noodle Incident: From the same video as the page image, apparently, Brandon once had to wear a plastic shopping bag while on a car trip as a child. He does not explain why.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Brandon tends to forego what others would see as common sense and perform life hacks with either the wrong materials or by not following directions as spelled out on the video. In spite of this, he never does anything which has the potential to send him or others to the hospital. In videos where he is not doing life hacks, he is shown to be much more competent (if a little klutzy).
  • Off with His Head!: Brandon accidentally takes the head off a doll while trying toy hacks in TRYING HILARIOUS TOY HACKS!. He and Cameron instantly break down hysterically laughing.
  • Oh, Crap!: In Things That SHOULD'T Be Sold On Amazon!, Brandon passes Cameron a vaguely potato-shaped item with metal caps all over it. Once Cameron realizes that the musical device is a Shocktato, he immediately tries to dump it back into Brandon's lap. Game is achieved until it eventually zaps Brandon, who leaves the room in pain.
  • Paste Eater: On the gaming channel, Brandon was so surprised by a jumpscare that he randomly ripped the cover off the microphone and shoved it in his mouth. Twice. Subverted, of course; he spat it back out.
  • Pun:
    • Brandon occasionally inserts puns during his Motor Mouth moments.
    • Cameron once tried to make one after the pair made a mess of Brandon's truck. He failed to deliver, to which they gave thumbs up and scary smiles to the camera until he meekly offered up the words "Car pun".
  • Refuge in Audacity: Pulled by Autumn when Gloria finds a wad of gum stuck to her arm. Instead of explaining why the gum is on her mother's arm, Autumn takes the gum and pops it back into her mouth. The matter is never discussed again.
  • Rouge Angles of Satin: Occasionally pops up in the videos' subtitles. For instance, using "censor" rather than "sensor", although it is not clear if Brandon's editor is doing this on purpose or not.
  • Running Gag: In Things TIKTOK Made Me Buy!, Brandon and Cameron make puns with escargot after Brandon opens a can so that they can test a brand of mouthwash.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Often expresses surprise or pain in brief, high-pitched squeals before flailing and falling to the floor. He can also get like this around bugs.
  • Shout-Out: To MrBeast when trying to figure out what he was going to do with the 100,000 plastic ball pit balls he had used to fill his room. The end of that specific video also features Mr. Beast's usual sign off audio.
  • Spit Take: Occasionally. As the videos he watches tend to not reveal their purpose right away, Brandon will be in the middle of a drink when the video concludes with a solution that he was not expecting and will spit up his drink in surprise.
    • Both he and Cameron tend to spit out drinks that Brandon has bought online. Such as Hot Wings soda and camel milk.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Cameron and Gloria occasionally wear expressions indicating this when Brandon goes to get something. One instance for Cameron is subtitled with "*instant regret*" when he, after Brandon leaves to go get some water, realizes he did not think to ask what kind of water Brandon was bringing. Brandon used a pitcher to infuse water with hot dogs.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Is often seen with a pink Starbucks drink. Which is also subject to the chaos he causes.
  • Translation Trainwreck: As befitting someone who uses Google Translate. Recipes are rendered nonsensical, but Brandon still tries to follow them if only for the laughs.
    • After he got married, he ran his vows through Google Translate and read them on-camera to Gloria. Between the Word-Salad Humor and implied Brother–Sister Incest, Gloria is laughing so hard she can barely stand by the time he's done.
  • Trash the Set: Brandon tends to make messes in the areas where he films. Most of these messes would be better done outdoors.
  • Uncanny Valley Makeup: Takes makeup life hacks to the extreme and will spend the rest of the video still wearing the makeup.
  • Unfortunate Implications: Occasionally points these out in some of the life hacks he watches. When one shows a man engaging with a child by taping his phone to his forehead so that the child is entertained by the phone, Brandon remarks that there must be something wrong with the man's relationship with the child if this is necessary (especially if this man is meant to be the child's father).
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Cameron to a degree. While they do not outright fight, they will intentionally inflict pain on one another, and Cameron can get exasperated with some of Brandon's antics. The You Scream You LOSE! video is the best example of this as they purposefully make each other scream using things like a tennis ball and racket and a riding crop while insulting each other in between. The only reason they are red-faced at the end of the video is the pepper spray.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: If a life hack intends to fix specifically womens' clothing, expect Brandon to be wearing it in the next cut.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has an extreme aversion to bugs. Whether alive or packaged as food, he has to physically force himself to interact with things such as tarantulas, scorpions, or flavored grasshoppers. Otherwise, he would spend most of the video splayed in one corner screaming in panic.
