Web Original / World Of Evras

Go To

A fantasy web original setting made on deviantART by user xXCresentMoonXx, the work is currently fairly sparse but, according to Word of God, there are plans to make it into a webcomic.

Evras itself is something of a combination being a straight Standard Fantasy Setting and an aversion of said trope. While there are some typical fantasy elements such as magic, dragons, fairies, monarchs, and the like, Evras also takes place is what can be considered a “modern” setting and features an original race of beings—the nixreok.

The work can be found here: https://www.deviantart.com/xxcresent-moonxx/

Tropes appearing in the ‘’World of Evras’’ are:

  • Action Girl: There are plenty of female characters who can kick ass in this setting.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: “Beasts” are an interesting example. Instead of being a specific set of creatures, the term “beast” refers to any creature who is considered horrible and evil. Therefore, anyone can be a beast, since anyone can become exceptionally evil.
  • High Fantasy: Minor example; while things like morality and conflict have yet to be defined, Evras is an alternate world with all the fixings of a fantasy, but averts the Medieval Stasis of other settings.
  • Medieval Stasis: Averted.
  • Our Monsters Are Different: A literal example. On Evras, “monster” is a general term for creatures and beings who no one knows what they are. Most monsters are able to be catagorized into the following groups.

Caynin: those who have canid like features and traits.

Avia: those who are usually feathered and light boned, and have some other various bird like traits and features.

Feolis: those who have various feline features and traits, whether it’s the big or the small sort. ( warning, this type of monster depending on the bloodline of the specific one may sometimes revert to a feral state )

  • Self-Insert: Crescent, the author’s own avatar and the protagonist. Also an example of Tropes Are Tools, since pains have been taken to show Crescent has both flaws and strengths.
  • Standard Fantasy Setting: Played With. There are some typical setting elements, such as magic, dragons, and fairies. But, there are also aversions, such as Evras having modern technology, original creatures such as the nixreok, and more.
  • Urban Fantasy: Can be considered this. Evras, despite taking place on another world, has things like modern technology and inventions.
