Prism Lyrical is an original Magical Girl Idol universe revolving around the idol group known as the Prism Maidens, seven girls who use the magic of music to restore balance to their world.
In a world where music is magic, each shade more vibrant than the last, there are those with magic even more colourful than anyone else. Known as the Prism Maidens, these magical idols use the power of music to keep the world's colours in balance, pushing back the Drone, who seek to turn all music and all colour into a monotonous grey. Stella Roselaid has only ever dreamed of becoming one of these legendary idols her whole life, but there's just one problem – only girls with a Perfect Pure Voice, whose magic perfectly represents one of the seven main colours of the rainbow, can hope to become a Prism Maiden and Stella's colour is pink, not red!
But then one fateful day, her luck completely turns around. A chance encounter ends with Stella being granted a Vertex Stone, a colourful crystal that marks her as one of the seven Prism Maidens! It might seem like all of her dreams are coming true, but Stella soon discovers that magic or not, being an idol isn't all it's cracked up to be...

- Summer Campy: The idol training camp they use is an actual summer camp out in the forest. Cabins, mess hall food, and camp activities ensue, even when it's hard to tell what use archery or canoeing have to idol work.
- Theme Naming: Colours, natch. Each of the girls' names is derived from the colour she represents – for example, Celeste's first and second names (Charleston) are both obscure shades of cyan.
- Transformation Trinket: The Vertex Stones, small crystals that are illuminated from the inside with a rainbow light. Each girl's Vertex Stone manifests as a different sort of accessory that they wear on their person.
