Obscured Eyes is a multimedia web series created by British web creator Lauren Storey, aka Lovely Lauren.

The series follows Beatrice, an orphan girl who finds herself lost in the woods. Beatrice is soon taken in by an odd but well-meaning girl named Isabella, and her sarcastic older sister, Madeline. Beatrice is very happy to have found a home, but her traumatic memories still would not leave her. As more is discovered about Beatrice's past and the cult she was adopted into, the three realize all is not what it seems.

The webcomic can be read here, and various miscellaneous animations related to the series can be found on her YouTube channel.

Obscured Eyes provides examples of:

  • All There in the Manual: Lauren's DeviantArt and Tumblr pages are dedicated to explaining the characters' backstories in more detail.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: A few characters have skin tones that would be considered unnatural in real life. For example, Beatrice has ash grey skin, Dolly Duncan has pink skin, and Mother Mary has pure white skin.
  • Cyclops: Various characters are similar to classical cyclopes in terms of the single eye, but there are some exceptions to this rule. Sophia's eye is not centered in the middle of her face, Zeki is a Triclops, and Claude is a "Triman".note
  • Daddy's Little Villain: Daisy shares much of the similarities to her father Dr. Nightshade, mainly doing experiments using different plants and chemicals, and they both share the same lack of remorse for their actions.
  • Disappeared Dad: This edit reveals that Catherine's, Chester's, and Sophia's father left them, and the family starved as a result.
  • The Dragon: Seth is this to Mother Mary, as he is the only one to willingly follow her orders, no questions asked. It's also heavily implied that he will take over her cult once she dies.
  • Fantastic Racism: While Mother Mary has adopted cyclops and triclops children into her cult, she utterly hates any entity that can change its form at will, such as shapeshifters or fleshshifters. Tellingly, there are no children belonging to either species as part of her cult.
  • Faux Affably Evil:
    • Catherine presents herself as a kind, gentle person who loves baking pastries, but behind closed doors, she is an unrepentant psychopath who puts human meat inside the pastries she makes.
    • Mother Mary may appear as a kind, generous mother figure to her cult members, but she is actually a cunning, manipulative woman who drugs the children under her care so they will follow her orders.
  • Sdrawkcab Speech: All fleshshifters can speak in both reverse and forwards speech. Elizabeth is considered an oddity among other fleshshifters, as she can only speak in reverse.
  • The Secret of Long Pork Pies: All of Catherine's pastries contain human flesh. After killing and cannibalizing her own mother, she gained a taste for people's flesh, and started to incorporate the meat into her baked goods.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Dr. Nightshade may be a Mad Scientist who conducts human experiments, but he is still very much in love with his wife Madame Scarlet, who admires his work.
  • Yandere: Played with. Daisy is obsessed with Isabella, and she wants her all to herself, but it's purposefully left unclear if Daisy also has romantic feelings for her.
