The Offshoot
is an animated Science Fantasy Work Com set in the SCP Foundation universe, hosted on the channel SCPeeps. The pilot premiered on September 7th, 2023.
Tropes:
- Adaptation Distillation: SCP-698, which usually activates on a delay of five minutes and 25 seconds, here activates instantly to tell Monica about her failures.
- Audience Surrogate: As the new hire of Site-19-S, Monica acts as a stand-in for the audience during the series as she learns more about how the Foundation operates.
- Nightmare Fetishist: Monica immediately questions if Bigfoot is hot after asking if they're housed in Site-19-S, and is later revealed to have a Mothman pinup calendar during the Confession Cam.
- Noodle Incident: Judging by Wells' reaction to Monica's questions about Bigfoot, she's not the first Nightmare Fetishist the Foundation has hired.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: The van that sequesters Monica has a label reading "Milk Van" haphazardly placed over the Foundation logo.
