Web Animation / The Marionette tries to listen to his musicbox

Go To

The Marionette tries to listen to his musicbox is a Five Nights at Freddy's 2 fan animation by IllusionR1 (credited as Illusi0n100 within the video) that was uploaded on the Typhoon Cinema YouTube channel.

The Marionette attempts to listen to his music box in peace. Unfortunately, other animatronics keep making noises to the tune of the music box, forcing him to resort to drastic measures to be left alone. Things proceed to quickly get out of hand.

While the original video has since been taken down, multiple reuploads exist; the highest-quality one can be found here.

Tropes present in this video include:

  • Annoying Laugh: Balloon Boy laughs to the tune of "My Grandfather's Clock", resulting in him making several clipped-sounding "HA!" noises in rapid succession. The already-irritated Marionette finds it annoying enough to lob a nuclear warhead at the kid after only hearing it for a few seconds.
  • Character as Himself: Exaggerated; not only are all the animatronics in the video credited as themselves, but so are things like the music, the animator's headache, and the video itself.

You as the one who is probably confused about what just happened and why everything exploded
You as the one pausing to read all of this, again
  • Credits Gag: invokedThe short's credits rapidly scroll by several times and mention several silly things, such as several improbable things getting credited as playing themselves, special thanks being given to the animator's keyboard and deodorant, and the animator being credited for several roles at once.
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
    • The credits' list of characters lists the credits and the video themselves as playing themselves.
    • The special thanks section contains the sentence "Special Thanks to Special Thanks for Special Thanks".
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The Marionette is quick to resort to violence against people who disturb him while he listens to his music box. When Freddy honks his own nose to the song, the Marionette points a gun at him until he backs off; when Balloon Boy laughs to the beat, the Marionette tackles the kid to the ground and throws a nuclear bomb at him.
  • Everything Explodes Ending: The video ends with the Marionette suddenly throwing a nuclear bomb at Balloon Boy while frenzied electronic music plays, creating an explosion. The credits acknowledge the randomness of this ending:
You as the one who is probably confused about what just happened and why everything exploded
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: The animation is about the Marionette trying to listen to his music box. What the title doesn't mention is that the "tries" is because other animatronics keep making noises over the music box.
  • Fade to White: The nuke exploding fills the screen with white light, which the end credits scroll across.
  • Nuke 'em: The Marionette's response to Balloon Boy laughing to the tune of the music box is to throw a nuclear bomb at him, resulting in an Everything Explodes Ending.
  • Special Thanks: The special thanks section in the end credits thanks Foxy the Pirate for his role in The Stinger, the viewer of the video, the animator's deodorant, keyboard, and friends on Steam, and "Special Thanks for Special Thanks".
  • The Stinger: Foxy the Pirate suddenly shows up after the credits to say "DED", followed by canned laughter.
  • Unreadably Fast Text: The end credits scroll by so fast, pausing the video is required to read them. Pausing reveals, among other things, that animator IllusionR1 is credited for multiple roles, several silly special thanks are provided, and an admission by the animator about deliberately filling space in the credits is present.
