The Asstronaut Chronicles is a Garry's Mod Machinima series created by Youtuber Genowhirl70. It follows a team of four Moonbase Alpha astronauts: Red, Blue, Green, & Yellow, as they explore space.

Four episodes were made:

  • A scientific interpretation of the moon landing in the year 2020
  • A scientific interpretation of the Mars landing in the year 2024
  • A scientific interpretation of the Uranus/Pluto landings in the year 2025
  • A Scientific Interpretation of Inter-Dimensional Travel in the Year 2030

Around 2018 Genowhirl privated all 4 episodes in response to the then-recent sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey, who appeared in a few episodes, thus making them no longer available to watch.

Note: this page will probably be largely incomplete as the creator does not have access to all the episodes & thus doesn't know what tropes some of the episodes may have.

This machinima series includes examples of:

  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In A Scientific Interpretation of Inter-Dimensional Travel in the Year 2030:
Green: Why is this getting so serious all of a sudden this series isn't known for that crap.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The astronauts are all identical apart from the colored stripes on their spacesuits.
  • Deus ex Machina: Mentioned by name several times in A Scientific Interpretation of Inter-Dimensional Travel in the Year 2030.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The Generic Red Square appears & saves the astronauts from being destroyed by Kevin Spacey in A Scientific Interpretation of Inter-Dimensional Travel in the Year 2030 by blocking the attack.
  • No, You: Blue & Red get into a verbal fight involving this in A scientific interpretation of the moon landing in the year 2020.
  • Once an Episode: Raxxo's "Butter Chant", in three of the episodes at the end when the astronauts are celebrating victory.
  • Shout-Out: In A Scientific Interpretation of Inter-Dimensional Travel in the Year 2030, Blue hits a button on the Space Shuttle's control panel that reads "LUDICROUS SPEED", with the others labeled "LIGHT SPEED", "RIDICULOUS SPEED", & "PLAID".
  • Synthetic Voice Actor: The four astronauts speak via DECTalk, the text-to-speech engine used in Moonbase Alpha, & Kevin Spacey speaks through Vocalware's "Paul".
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Despite the titular astronauts' constant arguing, they still care about each other, especially when met with danger.
