  • All There in the Manual: The cast's names aren't stated in the short itself. They are detailed from other pieces about it including the description, and a little video about their personalities and designs.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Val's left arm gets shattered after she is pushed off the wedding cake by Brad. The end credits show a woman who looks like Val who is also missing her left arm.
  • Disney Villain Death: Brad falls off the counter they are on and is heard shattering upon hitting the floor.
  • Foil: Jesse is one to Brad. Both are clingy to Mara and Val respectively, but while Brad is aggressive and remains demanding and abusive of Val, Jesse's expressions read more of doubt and concern, and he learns to let Mara choose who she wants to be with.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: When Brad is struck by Jesse, he has a crack on his face that very much resembles that of a scar, reflecting how unhinged he is.
  • Hate Sink: Brad is shown to be very controlling and abusive of Val, pushing her off the cake when she resists and shattering her arm, only helping her because everybody else is staring and showing not to care otherwise. He even forces Jesse to help him fight their brides.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Jesse starts to protect the brides after Brad attempts to shatter Mara. Afterward, he doesn't object to Mara's decision to be with Val.
  • Identical Stranger: The credits show Val and Mara being purchased by a couple who look exactly like them, right down to one of them missing an arm.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Brad does not take getting rejected very well, and he is willing to have her shattered with him.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Jesse realizes just how much Val and Mara love each other, and allows Val to take his spot on their cake.
  • Karmic Death: Brad knocks Val off their cake, causing her arm to shatter upon hitting the floor. He meets his demise falling off the counter trying to shatter Val completely, resulting in him being the one in pieces.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: Jesse starts as a relatively tamer version of this in contrast to Brad's If I Can't Have You… mentality, being notably concerned about what it will mean when Mara falls in love with Val. He gets better.
  • Taking You with Me: When Brad falls off the counter, he grabs Val's dress in an attempt to take her down too.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After Val takes his spot on the cake, the short does not state what becomes of Jesse afterward whether he went into hiding or opted to be alone on Val's cake.
