note

Obsolete Battle Show (Commonly abriviated as OBS) is a web-animated Object Show series created by Sacrinote  and released on 8 October 2020. Although it's under a brand new name, OBS is actually a continuation of Sacri's previous show Calculated Battlegrounds with this being the third season.

To bring you up to speed, there was once a host called Calculatory who wanted a bunch of objects to compete in his gameshow, Calculated Battlegrounds. When that ended, a new season titled Calculated Battlegrounds Again began shortly after. It starred three shapes replacing Calculatory as the host with a mix of both veteran and newbie contestants. Alas, CBA was abruptly cancelled midway through the competition and the hosts took off for some business meeting in space.

Cut to eight months later and the competition grounds is home to a modest population of twenty-eight of objects. Their typical, uneventful day was interrupted by Circle and Square with the intention of restarting the show. It goes smoothly until the contestants realize Square cannot recover them anymore so the last one standing in Obsolete Battle Show takes on a whole new meaning.

The season (alongside the Calculated Battleground franchise) were cancelled in December 2022.

The episodes can be viewed using the official playlist.

The show contains the following tropes:

  • A Dog Named "Dog": There is a lack of inspiration with everyone's names since it was based on their species (A circle named Circle, a ball named Ball and so on so forth).
  • Animate Inanimate Object: With the exception of Circle, Square and Blender, Obsolete Battle Show is populated by anthropomorphic objects of all sorts.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: Three walkin', talkin' snacks (Oreo, Goldfish and Cracker) and a living spice bottle named Cinnamon.
  • Anyone Can Die: Just because Square forgot how to recover people doesn't mean the contestants are exempted from dying in this dangerous, life-threatening competition. So far, four contestantsSpoilers  and even Circle and Square have fallen victim to the trope.
  • Armless Biped: The more, the merrier for this type of show. note  And don't forget the single inversion (Iceberg) too.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Triangle is inexplicably absent this season for reasons unknown.
  • Death Is Cheap: Averted as Square lost the ability to recover so the contestants try their best avoiding any casualties which leads to permanently dying. However, it seems that they're not trying hard enough since people are getting killed left, right and centre.
  • Ensemble Cast: A well-rounded cast of thirty, two hosts and twenty-eight contestants with equal focus, although it starts to dwindle once the continuous deaths roll around.
  • Living Polyhedron: Circle and Square qualify as this as opposed to everyone else.
