Now with ten times the teams and half the cooperationnote

Object Connects is an Object Show series created by PlanetBucket22, who previously made another lesser-known show called Object Crossovers. It had been teased back in 2017, 22nd November before the first episode was officially released on 1st January 2018.

When 20 anthropomorphic objects board the same train for a non-specific camp in the middle of nowhere, they find themselves greeted by malfunctioning Game Show Host Jack the slot machine on the competition grounds of Object Connects. After some coaxing, all twenty objects become contestants standing a chance to win $1,000,0000 dollars.

How the game works is the contestants are split into 10 teams of two, each pair working together as a team and voting off others until the finale where there can be only one winner. However, tensions arise with intense challenges, dysfunctional dynamics, newfound rivalries and a great Hidden Evil out to sabotage them all.

This show contains the following tropes:

  • A Dog Named "Dog": The entire cast is named after their species- an avocado named Avocado, a lantern named Lantern...yeah, you get the idea. Still, there are exceptions such as Thing (he's called that since nobody knows what he's supposed to be) and The Host of the show, Jack (a slot machine).
  • The Alliance: Formed in "Birthday Dash", it comprises of The Sleepy Strawberries, The Punchy Mangoes and The Speedy Dragonfruits, all with the common goal of taking down whoever is on The Smelly Peaches.
  • All There in the Script: Several of the characters' backstories and traits are further explored in Avocado's blog.
  • Animation Bump: Starting with "Keep An Eye", Object Connects move from Microsoft Powerpoint to Adobe Flash which leads to the characters moving more fluidly and added lipsync.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: What are you expecting there to be in an object show, Birds?note
  • Anthropomorphic Food: Avocado, Cotton Candy, Quince, and Sundae are this trope to be exact.
  • Armless Biped: A portion of cast are thisnote
  • Anyone Can Die: Jack's ability to revive the contestants makes it impossible to be permanently dead.
  • Audience Participation: While viewers are unable to vote for someone to be eliminated since Object Connects uses contestant voting, they still can recommend characters to appear in the show as crowd filler.
  • Big Bad: Lantern who puts a spin on the usual and cliche object show twist of the Cloudcuckoolander being Evil All Along by letting the audience know he's the main antagonist from the start. The contestants, however, are none the wiser since they're distracted by Cotton Candy's alliance and their own personal issues.
  • Confession Cam: Starting with "What Camp (Part 2)", several contestants as well as Jack and Drinking Bird use this to express their thoughts about the situation they are currently in. It even uses the same confession booth (an outhouse) from Total Drama.
  • Edible Theme Naming: All the teams were named after various fruits with an adjective ending with a "-y" in front.note
  • Fingerless Hands: The characters with arms have either ball-shaped or mitten hands although, on occasion, they'll advert this in some scenes.
  • Foil:
    • Drinking Bird and Toothbrush are incredibly egotistic and strive to be in the spotlight. DB rightfully earn his through hard work but was yanked away just like that while Toothbrush is so lazy and expects his fame to be handed over on a silver platter, his goal might as well be a snowball's chance in hell.
    • The biggest example around is Lantern and Journal. Both are the show's happy-go-lucky cloud cuckoolanders, equally dimwitted, surprisingly competent and talking in utter nonsense the characters can't understand most of the time. However, the similarities stop there because Lantern is actually Obfuscating Stupidity in order to remain incognito for his evil schemes while Journal's the real deal due to her inability to be in touch with reality. In terms of intelligence, Lantern is one of the smartest contestants on the show, although he doesn't let the others know, whereas Journal has the lowest intelligence stats. Journal goes on Nonsequitur tangents about her make-believe world and enacts accordingly. Lantern, on the other hand, speaks in forced, on-the-spot Word Salad Humour to the point of not even knowing what he's babbling on about. Journal has many allies due to switching teams twice and seeing everyone as friends while Lantern antagonizes the whole cast and is stuck with Yogurt Cup as his sole, one-sided ally. Overtime, Journal was proven a force to be reckoned with as Lantern works behind the scenes to simultaneously secure his victory and lead other teams to their downfall.
  • The Leader: An absurd amount considering all ten teams consists of a leader and a follower, varying in degrees of effective leadership and cooperation. The Alliance had Quince leading before Cotton Candy took over when his bossiness became too much to handle and caused his elimination.
  • Pilot: The first episode is quite possibly the longest ever made for an object show, with a runtime of 1 hour and 12 minutes.
  • Recurring Extra: A character named Heely makes non-speaking cameos in several episodes of the show.
  • Shorter Means Smarter: The shorter contestants, such as Thing, Slimey, Lantern and Yogurt Cup, are usually the brainier ones of the cast. Subverted with Bocce Ball who is as smart as she is big.
  • Shout-Out: Quite a number of them.
    • The Confession Cam is an outhouse identical to the one in Total Drama
    • The episode title "Attack Of The Reversal Tomatoes" references the cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!.
    • Sundae nicknames Thing, and other stout characters, as "Hobbit" while Toothbrush calls Slimey "Flubber" which makes sense due to Slimey's resemblance to the titular character.
    • When Sundae is practicing her writing, the papers she used to write are assets of Paper from Inanimate Insanity
    • A Luxo Ball can be seen among the toy weapons in "Attack Of The Reversal Tomatoes".
    • Lantern calling Jack a "Big, Fat Meanie" in "Hide and Go Deep"
