Web Animation / La La La Dema Cia

Go To

LaLaLaDemaCia is a series of CGI videos depicting the hilarious misadventures of characters from the game League of Legends. The videos are all about 5 to 6 minutes in length, and very professionally done, being fully voiced (in Chinese, but with both Chinese and English subtitles), with good animation, sound effects, and music. They contain many in-jokes about playing styles, in-game abilities, lore, and memes.

The series so far contains four seasons.

There's also a sanctioned English dub of the series.

This game contains examples of:

  • A-Cup Angst: Katarina and Kennen, though we later learn it was a subversion when faced with Caitlyn.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Miss Fortune usually hates and opposes Gangplank, but in season 2, she's Gangplank's loyal gunslinger... right up until the end when she suddenly decided that Gangplank needs to be arrested and she'll do the job.
  • Art Evolution: Season 2 has more refined models and animation than Season 1.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Season 1 features an Original Character which is an evil summoner trying to Take Over the World and even has Ashe, Katarina, Caitlyn, Jax, Talon and Blitzcrank Brainwashed and Crazy. When he tried to repeat the same scheme in Season 2... Gangplank shoots him in the head and becomes Season 2's Big Bad.
  • Big "NO!": In Gratuitous Japanese. Regardless if it's the original Mandarin or the English Dub. "YAMETEEEE!!!"
  • Bigger Stick: How Jarvan won over Caitlyn.
    Caitlyn: My dad's an official.
    Jarvan: My dad's THE KING!!
  • Blood Knight: Pantheon wishes to join the League to prove that his village is made of warriors. And to vent his anger about Leona joining the League.
  • Butt-Monkey: Xin Zhao, mostly. Garen and even Leona as well. Also Ezreal, his attempts to become a bona fide Marty Stu, judging from his narration, always end with failure.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: The guys' reaction to Sona.
  • The Cameo: Trundle gets a voice-only cameo. Lux, Nunu, Amumu, Yorick (among others) had a cameo as names on a list. However, Lux and Amumu are featured at Season 3.
  • The Casanova: Jarvan. He kinda succeeded with Caitlyn. Riven, not so much...
  • Character Tiersinvoked: Many jokes regarding it. A hilariously fake one is used to resolve the conflict at the end of season 1.
  • Clothing Damage: Master Yi's attacks against Sona merely result in her chest being exposed a bit further.
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Gangplank kicks puppies for a living and is often played for laughs.
  • Crossover: After his plan was wrecked, Gangplank decided to hunt for One Piece. In season 3, we saw him facing Monkey D. Luffy... who proceeds to rubber-punch his ship that it sinks in one hit. On hearing his 'troubles', Miss Fortune decides to rally everyone from Demacia, Noxus, Pantheon & Leona, and even Wukong, Ahri, Shen AND Twisted Fate to rescue Gangplank... but GP got befriended by Luffy quick enough that everyone trying to save him by doing 'teleport' Ultimates missed Gangplank's boat and fell off to the sea.
  • The Corrupter: Gangplank tries to be this towards Leona.
  • Darker and Edgier: Season 1 are mostly jokes on the gameplay elements, but Season 2 is rather a serious season, dealing with love story, abuse (although it doesn't shy away from making jokes from within) coupled with a rather Bittersweet Ending at first. Season 3 tries to be more in line of Season 1.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Even basic minions consider Leona to be pathetic.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In episode 1 of Season 2, Ahri is wishing to find a man who wants her for more than just her looks. In episode 2 she's... trying to seduce Wukong. What.
  • In-Universe Nickname: "This is Pantheon, but we all call him SPARTA!". It... didn't stick.
  • Lemony Narrator: Ezreal in the beginning of some episodes.
  • Lost in Translation: Xin Zhao becomes a lot funnier if you know that "daisy"note  is a Chinese euphemism for "anus".
    • In a similar vein, whenever someone refers to Gangplank shooting his guns, it is Chinese slang for masturbation.
  • Male Gaze: Especially with Sona.
  • Mexican Standoff: Gangplank points his pistol at Jarvan IV, Caitlyn points her rifle at him, Miss Fortune points her guns at her, and Xin Zhao points his spear at her.
  • Not Distracted by the Sexy: Neither Wukong nor Gangplank are affected by Ahri's charms; Wukong because she's not a monkey, and Gangplank because she's not an orange.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: The battles in Jarvan's ult.
  • Only Six Faces: Especially jarring when Leona, who looks fairly distinctive in concept art, looks almost exactly the same as Katarina (other than equipement, of course).
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Leona wears a mask that covers only the lower half of her face so that she won't be recognized. No one is fooled, with the shiny golden armor and all...
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: When under mind control by the dark summoners, Ashe's, Caitlyn's and Katarina's eyes glow red.
  • Retired Badass: Irelia, at first.
  • Shadow of Impending Doom: Gangplank right before Tibbers crush him.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Wukong is pretty much the original version from Journey to the West here. The references all fly over Gangplank's head, and Irelia tells him to read more books.
    • Tryndamere, Master Yi and Xin Zhao swore brotherhood in the style of Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.
    • In the English dub, Xin Zhao will refer him being hypnotized with Sona's Crescendo with terms like 'Dance Mania' or 'Guitar Hero'.
  • Spin Attack: An entire episode about it, naturally entitled "Spin to Win".
  • Talk to the Fist: Ashe's default form of communication is "talk to the bow."
  • Theme Tune: The show's ending theme, LaLaLaDemaCia.
  • Training Montage: Between Pantheon and Leona.
  • True Love's Kiss: The title of Season 1 Episode 7. Apparently Tryndamere, Jarvan and Garen had to do it to lift the mind control on Ashe, Caitlyn and Katarina respectively. Garen is the only one who didn't get the chance.
