El Politigato (the politicat) is an cartoon series made by MasKevMo
for YouTube and Facebook.
The cartoon delivers social criticism and analysis of the Venezuelan situation with black humor and satire, starring a witty cat arguing with his Chavista owner; the first chapter was dedicated to the Petro token (PTR) launched by Nicolás Maduro.
The series had reached over 100 episodes, published on platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, and has included other characters, including the "MUD Dog" (allusive to the political opposition and its Democratic Unity Roundtable coalition), the "Demented Oppositionist" and "Martin" (a rat with a degree in sociology).
El Politigato contains examples of:
- Surrounded by Idiots: Politigato. His owner is a strong follower of the ideas that sank their country, MUD Dog is a follower of the opposition that doesn't think that perhaps the elections made in an authoritarian dictatorship are rigged and Martin, who denies the failure of everything that has to do with socialism.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite being sarcastic and mean, Politigato tries to calm down Demented Oppositionist by assuring him that Trump is not the same as Chavez, and that there are countries that are improving. He also assured the public that the Russia-Ukraine war is not World War III and recommended that if the whole situation is making them nervous they should take a break from the news to take care of their mental health.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Once the Demented Oppositionist was worse than ever because he believed that the opposition lost USA support, Politigato didn't try at all of help him, he explained to him that with or without the help of USA the opposition was useless. Also he shoots his owner copy without knowing that it was the copy only because he was being annoying and tried to shoot his owner but the gun didn't work.
- Take That!: The serie routinely take shots at various things.
- Corrupt and/or incompetent politicians
- Followers of political parties without critical thinking, like the owner, or MUD Dog.
- Sociology students who try to prove that socialism/communism is the best political system and ignore the evidence that contradicts it.
- People who think that the situation in Venezuela is due to sanctions and not because of years of bad governments.
