The Cyborneer Series is a YouTube Machinima comedy/action series of Garry's Mod videos, created by ShermanZAtank. It's centered around the Australium Guardians, a group of cyborgs led by the aforementioned Cyborneer who dedicate their lives to defending the Australium from the forces of evil led by CyborSpy.

The series has a major sub-series called Australium Unleashed, featuring CyborScout and Drunk Monk's quest to defeat CyborMedic before he uses a powerful artifact to destroy Cyborneer. A second sub-series called The Saxton Hale Saga was also started, which is set after Australium Unleashed and features the Cybors' fight against a rogue clone of Saxton Hale made out of pure Australium. However, that sub-series was never continued after the fifth episode, as the author stopped making YouTube videos altogether.

This series is set in the same universe as The MSG Saga, Quirky Misadventures of Soldine the Cyborg and Doppelganger's Rampage, with the stories briefly overlapping at certain points.

The main series ran from January 30th, 2012 to September 6th, 2012 and can be watched here. Australium Unleashed ran from December 15th, 2012 to July, 4th 2013 and can be watched here.

This series provides examples of:

  • Action Girl: CyborScout uses the community-made Fem-Scout model and can kick as much ass as the boys, even serving as the main heroine of Australium Unleashed.
  • Amulet of Concentrated Awesome: The Saxxy is treated as the ultimate Australium relic, able to turn its wielder into a Physical God. It is the Australium Guardians' task to defend it from the likes of CyborSpy, who gained his powers after only a brief period of holding it.
  • Amplifier Artifact: The Australium Solemn Vow featured in Australium Unleashed serves as this to CyborMedic, directly described as a less powerful counterpart to the Saxxy.
  • An Arm and a Leg: CyborHeavy's robotic arm is detachable, as demonstrated in An unexpected Encounter; after being pinned to a wall by that arm, he detaches himself from it to free himself.
    • In the finale of Australium Unleashed, CyborMedic destroys Cyborneer's Arm Cannon, leaving him missing his right arm until he is healed by Dr. Windhoek.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Australium, even more so than its Team Fortress 2 counterpart. Other than just making you stronger, in this series it serves as a power source of many of the characters, which is why CyborSpy and CyborMedic are so obsessed with getting more of it.
  • Bad Boss: CyborSpy is very callous towards his subordinates, enslaving his former BLU team and later killing his own drones to test his abilities.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: CyborSpy is the primary villain of the series, with CyborMedic serving as a close second. The latter takes the spotlight during Australium Unleashed.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Many examples.
    • Happens multiple times in The Cyborshowdown with Major Scout Guy and TelroSpy repeatedly saving and being saved by Cyborneer and CyborHeavy.
    • In Cyborspy's Scheme, Cyborneer comes to the Fem-Scout's rescue, and later, CyborMedic comes to Cyborneer's rescue.
    • TelroSpy risks his life to save Major and CyborScout during CyborScout's Training, which leads to his disappearance.
    • During An unexpected Encounter, Drunk Monk is introduced by saving CyborScout and CyborHeavy from CyborMedic.
    • Major Scout Guy saves CyborScout from being finished off by CyborPyro in the third episode of Australium Unleashed.
  • The Big Guy: CyborHeavy, the good-hearted and very strong right-hand man of Cyborneer.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The Soldier Drones were ordinary Soldiers before being equipped with a brainwashing device by CyborSpy, leading them to become his personal Mooks.
    • Dr. Schadenfreude attempts to do this to CyborMedic in the finale of Australium Unleashed. However, he manages to resist it.
  • Canon Immigrant: CyborSniper, a character who was not created by ShermanZAtank, makes an extended appearance in Australium Unleashed: Episode 6.
  • Catch and Return: During Australium unleashed: Episode 2, Drunk Monk kicks a bomb back at the Soldier Drones who fired it, exploding them in the process.
  • Create Your Own Villain: CyborMedic became a villain because was kidnapped by Cyborneer and used as a lab rat for an experiment.
  • Crossover: The series crosses over with The MSG Saga starting in Cyborspy encounters Major Scout Guy, from which point the latter becomes a major ally of Cyborneer. Multiple following episodes are considered to be part of both series simultaneously.
  • Cyborg: A large majority of the cast, particularly those with names starting in "Cybor", with the only exception being CyborPyro who is a full robot. While some characters are clear cases of We Can Rebuild Him, others don't clearly explain how they became cyborgs.
  • Deuteragonist: Drunk Monk during Australium Unleashed.
  • Dark Is Evil: Both CyborSpy and CyborMedic dress in almost all-black clothes and are wholly malevolent.
  • The Dragon: CyborPyro to CyborMedic.
  • Drunken Master: Drunk Monk is a swordsman who is only able to use his sword skills while inebriated. Sobering up (which can happen in the middle of a fight) turns him useless in combat until he drinks again.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The Rise of CyborMedic is one of the earliest and oddest episodes of the series, where Cyborneer is a borderline villainous character. He kidnaps an innocent Medic and transforms him into the psychotic CyborMedic (albeit by accident), despite acting as a hero in every other episode. The only reason the audience is ever given is that he wanted to use the Medic as a test subject to his experiments, which doesn't come off as very heroic, and it's never addressed again outside of CyborMedic's frankly understandable desire for revenge on him for it.
  • Elite Mooks: The fully-robotic Soldier Drones are this to the regular ones.
  • Enemy Mine:
    • CyborSpy and CyborMedic join forces against Cyborneer during Cyborspy: Evil at work. This alliance doesn't last, however, as the former eventually betrays the latter in Cyborspy's Scheme, and actually leads to CyborMedic briefly joining up with Cyborneer to take the Spy down.
    • Cyborneer, CyborSpy and CyborMedic all work together to defeat Commander Bot's army in Cybor vs machine.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: CyborMedic speaks in a deep, electronic baritone.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: Every character who uses Australium displays some small amount of this, but CyborMedic makes the most extensive use of it, as his primary power is to transform nearby objects into Australium versions of themselves, which he can use against his enemies.
  • Eyepatch of Power: CyborScout's visor, gained when she became a cyborg.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: Gold-colored in this series indicates the item is made out of Australium. The Saxxy, the Australium Sapper and Drunk Monk's master's katana are all examples of such.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Cyborneer is forced to use the Saxxy to defeat Commander Bot in Cybor vs machine.
  • Having a Blast: Once Drunk Monk recovers his master's sword, he gains the power to create remote explosions.
  • The Hero: Cyborneer, naturally. CyborScout takes the spot during Australium Unleashed.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Cyborneer and CyborHeavy are this. The same can be said for Cyborneer and Major Scout Guy.
  • Instant Expert: CyborMedic immediately knows how to use his powers after he is transformed into a TF2 Freak.
  • Laser Blade: CyborScout's melee weapon of choice is a straight up lightsaber, sounds effects and all.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: CyborSpy enslaves his teammates to mine Australium when he first gains his powers. After Cyborneer beats him for the first time, the now-free teammates give the Spy an offscreen beating.
  • Me's a Crowd: One of CyborScout's powers, which she starts using in Australium Unleashed, where she creates two mirror copies of herself.
  • Mind over Matter: Cyborneer has limited telekinesis thanks to his Golden Wrench, and CyborMedic can telekinetically manipulate his Australium items.
    • CyborSpy also has telekinetic powers while holding the Saxxy, which he uses through The Engineer and his Australium, but after the heroes retake the artifact, he loses this power. Later he regained the ability when he obtains the Australium Sapper in Cyborspy's Scheme.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • CyborMedic's entire existence is this, after Cyborneer decided to randomly kidnap an innocent Medic and perform experiments on him (despite the fact he's supposed to be The Hero), leading him to be transformed into one of his deadliest enemies.
    • Johann Van Windhoek takes his medical oath a bit too seriously, as he decides healing a defeated CyborMedic is a good idea.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Happens twice in Australium Unleashed.
    • CyborSpy tries to finish CyborScout off by throwing her down a pit... where the Saxxy happens to be stored.
    • After defeating Drunk Monk, CyborSniper decides to simply spare his life. This gives the former a chance to get his scrumpy and promptly turn the tide in his favor.
  • No Ending: The main series kinda just abruptly ends with Cybor vs machine, with no resolution given to Cyborneer's fight against CyborSpy and CyborMedic.
  • No-Sell: Heavy Sumo Guy, who appears in the second episode of Australium Unleashed, is martially trained to the point he can shrug off being set on fire. He attempts to train Drunk Monk with this... with poor results.
  • Off with His Head!: Happens a lot through the series, with Cyborneer or CyborSpy disposing of their enemies by going for the head or cutting it off with their bladed weapons.
    • During An unexpected Encounter, CyborHeavy rips CyborPyro's head off with his bare hand to take it down.
  • One-Man Army: CyborMedic at his strongest is able to fight off Cyborneer, Major Scout Guy, CyborScout and Drunk Monk. He only loses that fight because his Amplifier Artifact shatters, leaving him exposed.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: CyborMedic will not allow anyone to kill Cyborneer but him, even to the point of helping the latter fight off CyborSpy when he tries to do it.
  • Playing with Fire: CyborPyro can shoot fire from his hands.
  • Power Glows: The characters start visibly glowing gold when using Australium during Australium Unleashed.
  • Power-Up Food: Alcohol is this to Drunk Monk. He is unusually inoffensive, but a drink of scrumpy turns him into a menace with his katana, at least until he sobers up.
  • Revenge: CyborMedic's primary goal is to kill Cyborneer in revenge for transforming him into what he is.
  • Running Gag: The Soldier Drones nonchatantly saying "I am programmed to DEAD, amen!" almost every time they die.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: Drunk Monk and the robotic Soldier Drone in the second episode of Australium Unleashed pull this off. Predictably, the former emerges victorious.
  • The Smurfette Principle: CyborScout is the only female character in the series.
  • Skyward Scream: This is Major's reaction to TelroSpy's disappearance in Desperate times.
  • Take Over the World: CyborSpy's stated goal is world domination.
  • Taking the Bullet:
    • The Fem-Scout saves Cyborneer from a headshot from CyborSpy and is shot in the head herself. Cyborneer saves her by bringing her back as CyborScout.
    • During CyborScout's Training, TelroSpy saves CyborScout from Savior by shielding her with his body. Downplayed in that he survives the ordeal.
    • In the finale of Australium Unleashed, Cyborneer shields Drunk Monk from CyborMedic's final attack with his body. He almost dies.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: The Engineer and his Australium shows that Cyborneer and CyborHeavy were ordinary mercenaries before being almost killed by the Spy that would become CyborSpy. After three months of recovery, they were turned into cyborgs. This later happens to CyborScout as well.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Savior is not seen or mentioned again after he is defeated by TelroSpy.
    • The Australium Sapper, which can supposedly make CyborSpy a borderline Physical God, is never used or mentioned again after its first appearance.
  • Would Hit a Girl: CyborSpy attacks and almost kills the Fem-Scout who would later become CyborScout during Cyborspy's Scheme for defying him.
