Go To

Come settle down as we tell our tale
One that we hope would serve you well
Though you may fall in dismay, we hope and we pray
That your dark clouds will go away

Even when you're deep in the sea
Light can still be seen
Keep your head way up high
And you'll fly up into the sky

Clover: Love, Hope, Faith & Luck is a series of animated music videos connected to each other through the same universe and storyline.

Our protagonist Kel, wakes up one day to find three ghosts from the past that appear in front of her. At first, she is frightened and tries running away but realizes the ghosts mean no harm. Each ghost tells her a story about their past life and lessons learned from it which relate to and help Kel with her own struggles in life.

Clover is an electro-swing concept album and will have 7 songs with 5 being made into music videos. It was produced by OR3O and uses black and white animation reminiscent of cartoons like Felix the Cat and Betty Boop.

The five music videos consist of:

Clover contains examples of:

  • Animal Motifs: Kel is the ‘Lucky kitten’ referring to her headphones, George is the ‘Lovable hummingbird’ referring to his music, Brenda is the ‘Hopeful rabbit’ referring to her dancing, and Dave is the ‘Faithful wolf’ referring to his faith in the cartoons he makes.
  • Arc Symbol: Hearts. Kel and the ghosts all have visible hearts on them. As seen on the thumbnails for the characters' theme songs (and whenever there's a Follow the Bouncing Ball segment during a music video, as seen in the end of George's "100 Years"), the individual characters are represented by hearts that, with the exception of Kel's heart, are rotated. George by a heart rotated 90 degrees clockwise, Brenda by an upside-down heart, and Dave by a heart rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. The symbol of the project itself is four hearts rotated and arranged to resemble a four-leaf clover.
  • Cheated Angle: Kel has a hair swoop that remains at the front of her hair regardless of which angle her head's facing.
  • Devoted to You: George is still in love with the girl that either left him or died years ago.
  • Dodge the Bullet: George barely ducks in time to avoid getting shot in the head during World War I.
  • Dream-Crushing Handicap: Subverted with Brenda, even though she slowly loses the ability to walk, move her arms, and talk, her daughter keeps giving her alternative ways to ‘dance’.
  • Driven to Suicide: It's implied that the ridicule Kel suffered in life capped off by the death of her grandfather, the one person who showed her love and kindness, drove Kel to try and drown herself. But the three ghosts come to her on the brink and try to convince her to carry on living instead.
  • Easter Egg: The background of "Sugar Honey Iced Tea" can be converted into binary code, with the circles being 0 and the diamonds as 1. This translates to "Suzie".
  • Friendly Ghost: Three of the four main characters are helpful, kind ghosts that want to help Kel follow her dreams.
  • Fog Feet: The three ghosts have foggy tails instead of feet.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
    • Brenda (Sanguine)
    • Dave (Choleric)
    • Kel (Melancholic)
    • George (Plegmatic)
  • Hairstyle Inertia: Suzie, Brenda's daughter, retains the same hairstyle no matter her age, from when she's young in "Still Dancing", to when she's grown up in "100 Years", to when she's an elder in the ending of "Living On"
  • Haunted Heroine: A subversion of the usual trope, as the three ghostly characters want to help Kel, instead of terrorize her.
  • Healthy in Heaven: Or ‘healthy as a ghost’; after Brenda dies from a disease that took away her ability to move her body, she can dance like she used to as a ghost. In addition, George's ghost resembles him in his youth, despite him dying as an old man.
  • Inkblot Cartoon Style: Used to fit the ‘Roaring 20’s’ style and setting.
  • Ironically Disabled Artist: "Still Dancing": Brenda pursued her dreams as a dancer but was suddenly struck with paralysis which would gradually spread from her legs to the rest of her body. Her daughter helps her find other ways to dance; with her arms, then with her voice, then in her head as the disease got worse, helping Brenda remain hopeful even after she succumbed to her disease.
  • I See Dead People: In the music video “Help Me”, Kel notices that no one else can see the three ghosts.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Seen both ways in "Karma". Dave had been put down all his life with no one believing in his cartoon dreams. Rather than give into despair, resentment, or jealousy, Dave kept his chin up and persevered. Eventually, his creation, Wubby the Wolf, became a smash hit and propelled him into stardom while those who doubted him like the studio producer are left to rage and lament that they missed out on the opportunity.
"Watch out! Karma's what you make!"
  • Lighter and Softer: As detailed in ‘’Karma’’, Dave’s story is filled with hardship, but he ultimately accomplishes his dreams and lives the rest of a full life largely free from tragedy.
  • Monochrome Apparition: Although the entire world is black and white, the three ghosts themselves are completely white.
  • Protagonist Title: The ending of "Living On" reveals Kel's full name to be Kel Clover.
  • Spirit Advisor: The three ghosts want to help Kel become happier and follow her dreams.
  • Splash of Color: Before the full-color ending of "Living On", the only bit of color in the series was the scene right before, with Kel's heart bathing her nearly-ghost form with a subtle green glow before turning into a green clover, which emits some green rays that open the door in front of Kel.
  • Tragic Keepsake: As Kel says goodbye to her dying grandfather in "Help Me", he hands her some sort of trinket that the audience doesn't see. As Kel wakes up in "Living On", the first thing she does is look at that trinket; it turns out to be a necklace with a four-leaf clover charm.
  • Undeathly Pallor: A subversion; because the world is a black and white animation, everyone has an undeathly pallor, not just the ghosts. But being all-white is still a ghost thing.
