ARE. YOU. READY. FOR... CARTOOOONNN BEATBOX BAAAATTLES!

Ever wanted to see your favourite character throw down their beatboxing skills in a showdown? Then Cartoon Beatbox Battle is the series for you!

Cartoon Beatbox Battle is an animated video series created by Verbal Ase. It pits two characters in a beatboxing ring where the two take turns rapping against each other by beatboxing. After the duel ends, it's up to the viewers on who do they think won the battle. It stars Verbal Ase, Beatboxer From Outer Space, as the host and beatbox referee. The series started around 2016. You can find the playlist here.

A Spin-Off called Cartoon Beatbox Lessons was released on May 30 2020. It's consists of Verbalase teaching viewers about how to do beatboxing with different tips and tricks in this quick mini-series. So far, the first episode is up.

3... 2... 1... TROPE!

  • Art Evolution: The first two episode has rather simple art, with characters going Off-Model at times. Starting in Pennywise vs. Joker, the art is more detailed and refined with the character designs improved in art and animation.
  • Audience Participation: Viewers can vote on who they think won the battle and request on who should be on the show.
  • Battle Rapping: While it's primarily a beatbox battle, rapping sections are thrown in as well.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Deadpool, just like in his canon series, does this in his battle against Deadshot and Spongebob. From telling his viewers to vote for him to pointing out to Verbal Ase that despite him constantly stating the match to be very close, the votes are almost always one-sided.
  • Burning Rubber: Sonic's entrance has him speeding off, leaving a trail of fire in the ring.
Verbal Ase: S-so, uh...somebody wanna put that out?
  • Catching Some Z's: Groot does this during Pikachu's performance. This doesn't make Pikachu happy and pushes his rap harder.
  • The Comically Serious: Thanos. He even outright says in Episode 10 that he's always serious.
  • Curse Cut Short: At the start of Deadpool's rap in Episode 9:
Deadpool: Is that rotten cheese in the trash. Oh no, wait a minute it's Spongeboob. Don't forget to wipe my-
    Spongebob: Hey!
Deadpool: Sorry dude that's what sponges do.
  • Dartboard of Hate: Deadpool backhandedly throws a knife at a picture of Spongebob attached to a dartboard during the latter's beatboxing segment.
  • Death Throws: Mario does this at the start of Episode 9. But instead of going offscreen, he instead falls off the ring.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Pennywise lampshades this.
Pennywise: Even if you were to regrow your limbs, I'll burn them again! Just like your all your friends! Oh, sorry, was that too soon? *laughs*
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Thanos appears briefly as a part of Deadpool's beatbox rap before getting a proper introduction for himself in Episode 7.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first two episodes are animated somewhat crudely and the characters are mostly stiff in movement. Starting in Pennywise vs. Joker, the animation is more fluid and the movement is more expressive.
    • The intro music for the first episode, Mickey Mouse vs. Spongebob, is different compared to episode two onward. Both of the first two episodes also don't have a standard intro animation.
    • Also in the first episode, both Mickey and Spongebob are given 40 seconds to do their beatboxing rap. This time limit restriction doesn't show up from Pikachu vs Groot onwards.
  • Enemy Mine:
    • The Piranha Plants and Metal Sonics (yes, there are two of them). While they're an enemy to Mario and Sonic in the main games respectively, here they serve as backup dancers to them with the former aiding Mario while the latter aiding Sonic.
    • Doodlebob aids in Spongebob's rap despite the two being enemies in their canon series.
  • Evil Versus Evil: The theme in Episode 7, Darkseid Vs. Thanos.
  • Hammerspace Hideaway: Verbal Ase's hat is this as he hides under it after the Darkseid vs. Thanos episode.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Patrick makes fun of Goofy for being a talking dog... even though, as Verbal points out, he himself is a talking starfish.
  • Impact Silhouette: Goofy leaves this after he launches himself off the ring.
  • Last-Second Word Swap: At the start of Patrick's beatbox rap:
Patrick: To the window pol-pole, to the wall. To the spike drop to my ball...forehead.
(camera slowly pans and zooms to Patrick's crotch before it suddenly shifts to Patrick's face.)
  • Lightning Glare: Both Patrick and Goofy gave each other this just as Goofy is about to start his turn.
  • Limited Animation: The Cyborg vs. Terminator episode is this, with use of still images of Cyborg and Terminator from either their cropped screenshot or toyline. Some out of place eyes are added and very few animated bits show up. Justified, as it's a storyboard animation and Verbal Ase disclaims that this is not how all episodes are produced. Two other storyboards have since been released, one of Thanos vs. Darkseid, and another of Thanos vs. Patrick
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: Verbal Ase is the only voice actor so far, so all the characters are voiced by him. He has a great vocal range and uses special audio effects, allowing him to give each characters' voices to stand out from each other. Much more evident in his LIVE! version of the episodes.
  • Mickey Mousing: One part of Mario's rap has the hills dancing to the beat of the song.
  • Monster Clown: The theme with Pennywise vs. Joker.
  • Pokémon Speak: The theme with Pikachu vs. Groot.
  • People Puppets: Pennywise does this during Episode 11.
  • Song Parody: Some of the solos the characters perform are this. Remixed with beatboxing and all.
  • Take That!: In-Universe, as rappers will take potshots at their foe in any given chance.
  • Taking the Fight Outside: In the Thanos v. Darkseid episode, Verbal Ase convinces the two to duke it out on the moon instead of the arena.
  • Toilet Humor:
    • Joker wasn't fazed by Pennywise's rap, as he finds him scary as Batman when he's on the toilet.
    • Episode 9 has Spongebob and Deadpool's rap that featured many of this.
    • Patrick's third beatbox is absolutely full of it.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Patrick ends his rap by puking into a barf bag, with no visible vomit shown on screen.
  • Your Mom:
    • After Deadpool finished changing Spongebob's "Deadpool Sucks" cake to "Deadpool I Sucked", he almost said "that's what his Mom said last night" before Verbal Ase cuts him off.
    • In general, some rappers will throw this insult at their foes.
