Barbie Vlog is a series of web-exclusive shorts based on Barbie. In it, Barbie has her own vlog where she talks about her life and does viral challenges.

Barbie Vlog takes place in the same continuity as Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures, as Barbie and her family are all humans. It also isn't as tongue-in-cheek as its predecessor Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse.

Videos can be found on this playlist for the official Barbie YouTube channel.

Barbie Vlog contains examples of:

  • Adapted Out: Barbie's seldom-seen two other siblings, baby Krissy and Stacie's twin brother Todd, are absent.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Barbie herself. She's implied to have a crush on her best friend Ken, but also names Zendaya and Taylor Swift as her celebrity crushes. The way she phrases her answer implies that by "crush," she could just mean "really admires," but still...
  • Age Lift:
    • In these videos, Barbie is aged back down to her original age of being in her late teens (implied to be seventeen), instead of the twenty-something year old she is in most Barbie material.
    • As a result, Barbie's teenage sister Skipper seems younger than she does in other media (however she's still teenaged).
  • Art Shift: The series has gone through three style shifts over the course of it's several year run. The most recent style is more in line with how Barbie looks in Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures, which is set in the same continuity.
  • Best Friend: Barbie and Ken are described as "best friends" in this canon. However, it's implied that their feelings for each other might be more than just friendship.
  • The Bully: Bullying is discussed in episode 51. Barbie talks about bullying, toxic friends, peer pressure, and how to deal with bullies.
  • Childhood Friends: Ken and Barbie. They've known each other since they were children since Ken used to be her neighbor.
  • Cosplay: Barbie cosplayed as GLaDOS from Portal in one of the videos.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Ken hates bananas.
  • Gamer Chick: Skipper is usually the only gamer in the family, however here Barbie shows an interest in Just Dance and Portal.
  • Granola Girl: Barbie very much comes across as this.
  • Everyone Can See It: In "20 Questions With Skipper!" Skipper implies that all of Barbies sisters know that she has a crush on Ken. She extends this to the audience that Barbie is vlogging for, as well.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: Ken calls Barbie "Barbara" during their "pizza challenge" when she tries to get him to eat bananas. It's especially noteworthy because Barbie is almost never called "Barbara", in any canon.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: All of Barbie's sisters have Precious Puppies. Barbie's puppy is named Taffy.
  • The Internet Is for Cats: Referenced in "Meet Taffy!"
Barbie: There is nothing better than funny puppy videos.
  • Kaleidoscope Hair: Barbie's hair is usually blonde, however, she will occasionally show up with different hair colors such as rainbow, lavender, brown-rooted blonde, or pink hair. One vlog shows her changing her hair color with a snap of her fingers.
  • Mythology Gag: Barbie mentions being from Wisconsin in her first vlog. This is a seldom-mentioned part of her mythos. She is from the fictional city of Willows, Wisconsin.
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: Despite the vlogs spanning several years, no one seems to age.
  • Oblivious to Love: Barbie seems oblivious to the fact that Ken reciprocates her feelings for him. For example, in "BEST FRIEND TAG WITH KEN! Socially Distant Style!" Ken gives a long-winded speech about his first impression of Barbie and basically says everything he likes about her. While he stops himself, he's visibly flustered by the fact that he's all but outright said he has a crush on her. Barbie takes all of this in and concludes that they'll be friends forever, which he agrees to, and there's an audible awkwardness before they move on to the next question.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Barbie is rarely called by her name "Barbara", and so far has only been referred to it on two different occasions by Ken. First in their pizza challenge when she tries to get him to eat bananas, and second jokingly in the vlog "Barbie and Ken Love The Ocean". In the second instance, she jokingly calls Ken "Kenneth" in return, which is his full first name.
  • Out of Focus: Every character not named Barbie thanks to their infrequent appearances.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: Inverted. Ken and Barbie are just best friends, not the Official Couple like in most Barbie media. Barbie, however, does have a crush on Ken.
  • Reading Is Cool: Downplayed. Barbie mentions that her favorite subjects in school are Science and English.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: A few of Barbie's vlogs have Barbie social distancing due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This is despite the vlogs being set in a fictional universe.
  • Science Is Good: One of Barbie's two favorite school subjects is science.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Skipper openly ships Barbie and Ken as a running gag starting with "20 Questions with Skipper".
    • In the same vlog, Skipper implies that all of the Roberts sisters ship them.
    • In "DRAW MY LIFE: PROM EDITION", Barbie's family and friends set Barbie up so that Ken could ask her out to prom in big, promposal fashion.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Barbie and Ken. They both are implied to have feelings for each other, though nothing has come of it yet.
    • In "DRAW MY LIFE: PROM EDITION", Barbie recounts the events that lead up to Ken asking her out to prom. According to her recollection, Ken said she looked beautiful despite her having wet pool hair and jeans on.
  • Signing Off Catchphrase: Barbie signs off every vlog with "PACE!" which stands for "Positive Attitude Changes Everything".
  • Spoiled Sweet: Barbie, per usual. She was raised in an enormous high-tech "dreamhouse" but otherwise behaves like an ordinary teenage girl who also cares about the environment, mental health, and treating others fairly.
  • Unlimited Wardrobe: It's Barbie after all. Barbie has a wide wardrobe. The vlog also involves several fashion and makeup videos. This is downplayed as Barbie does reuse clothing from time to time.
  • Verbal Backspace: Barbie after her "slip up" in "EASY Lion Makeup Tutorial Transformation with Ken!"
Barbie: Thank you so much, Ken, for coming on my vlog and letting me make you up! It's almost like a "Halloween tutorial" meets "Boyfriend Tag"! [Beat] Uhh. I mean, like, "boy friend"! like "boy friend". Uhmmm... Happy Halloween! PACE!
  • Vlog Series: The series has Barbie in her own fictionalized vlog.
  • Will They or Won't They?:
    • Barbie and Ken. While they reassure themselves and the audience that they're just best friends, it's clear that they have feelings for each other. However, in the years the vlog has been running, nothing has come of it yet.
    • In "EASY Lion Makeup Tutorial Transformation with Ken!", Barbie accidentally refers to Ken as her "boyfriend" before awkwardly attempting to correct herself. Ken begins to say that he's been thinking about something, but Barbie turns off the camera before he can finish his thought.
    • In "20 Questions With Skipper!" Barbie implies that she and Ken had a conversation about their feelings for each other off-screen where they concluded that they're Just Friends, much to Skipper's disappointment. Despite this, the Ship Tease between the two continues on unhindered.
