- A Dog Named "Dog": The characters are named after the objects they're based on.
- Animate Inanimate Object: As if the talking objects with limbs didn't give it away.
- Anthropomorphic Food: A nice selection of legumesnote , snacksnote , dessertsnote and drinksnote
- Art Shift: In "Drama Trauma", Poster announced they run out of money to not only continue the competition but to keep the animation running. Thus, the rest of the episode instantly devolved into Stylistic Suck Flipaclip drawings being recorded off a computer screen ala Shape World. Luckily, they manage to get back the funding near the end of the episode and return to normal.
- Colony Drop: The finale of season 1 has the contestants alongside some scientists try to stop an oncoming meteor from wiping out earth as part of the challenge.
- Crush Blush: Cup gets visibly embarrassed and very prone to this trope whenever someone brings up his crush on Poster or when Poster himself shows affection towards him.
- Short-Runner: The original run got cancelled after six episodes with its sixth episode being half completed and animated due to the creator's serious lack of motivation whilst tackling school. The Double Season didn't fare any better when it lasted half the previous runtime under the same circumstances.
- Teacher/Student Romance: Poster, the host of AFO, began hitting on one of his contestants Cup who already got a massive crush on him and the two ended up dating as confirmed in "Drama Trauma".
- Where the Hell Is Springfield?: The competition takes place in vast grassy fields of unknown origin as per object show tradition.
