A Clone Apart is a machinima series made by Illusive Entertainment using Star Wars: Battlefront II. It follows the misadventures of clone trooper Danson-Delta 40, who gets thrown forward into time from Revenge of the Sith to... A New Hope. Hilarity Ensues.
Tropes employed include:
- Artistic License – Biology: The Delta batch was almost killed by...something. Curing this removed their accents.
- Asshole Victim: The Imperial Officer in charge of Alpha-12 never passes an opportunity to needlessly berate his subordinate at every turn. Said-officer's later incompetence gets him killed by Vader himself.
- Brick Joke: During the battle of Utapau, a battle droid gets shot and says "Ow!", prompting Danson to yell that droids can't feel pain. Upon encountering a droid being tortured in Jabba's palace during episode 4, and when Rook accidentally triggers some mines that cause him to say "Ow!" in episode 7, Danson officially restates that droids feel pain.
- Cloud Cuckoolander: Danson is blissfully unaware that almost everyone he knows is trying to kill him.
- Credits Gag: The title card for the first 3 episodes features the subtitle "Special Edition". The "ition" promptly falls off to make "Special Ed", referring to Danson.
- Funny Background Event: Vocal example in episode 7. The episode starts with Danson crashing into a hanger, and shortly after leaving, the computer reports about the fire in Hanger 14. Throughout the episode, the voice can be heard reporting that the fire has spread to several other hangers across the Death Star, with seemingly no one doing anything to contain it. note
- Lampshade Hanging: Mocks the standard video game tropes, and Star Wars too.
- My Nayme Is: Bhiff
- Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Most of the clones. Lampshaded in the first episode.
- Overused Running Gag: Did we mention they want his rifle? Comes to a head when the Recon Droid finally decides to speak up about his rifle, leading to Danson's frustration peaking.Danson: Great, you're obsessed with my rifle and you don't even have hands! Seriously, Mr. Probe Droid, I'm in a hurry! And am totally non threatening! I'm only slightly armed and I have been told my rifle has user error.
Probe Droid: Die, Rebel scum, die! (immediately begins firing at Danson) - This Is Gonna Suck: Danson, when he returns to the Death Star, recognizes that everybody is out to hunt him down, including Bhiff.Danson: Man, I am so not going to miss the future!
- Time Skip: From Revenge of the Sith to A New Hope. A second time skip sends the main cast to The Empire Strikes Back.
- Scooby-Dooby Doors: Used to hilarious effect during Episode 7.
- Sociopathic Soldier: Alpha-12, Teflin McBomb, and Rook.
