"Delilah" is a prequel to "Green, Green Grass of Home"

The Plot Twist in "Green, Green Grass of Home" (released as a Tom Jones single in 1966) reveals that the narrator is on death row, awaiting his execution. In "Delilah" (released in 1968), the narrator tells of how he has just murdered his girlfriend for her infidelity and is waiting for the police to arrest him. Perhaps the two are linked, and the two narrators are the same man — who is facing execution after being arrested for (and subsequently being tried and found guilty of) murdering Delilah. In his last moments, he's thinking not of her but of his parents and his childhood sweetheart.
