Deborah and James' father are divorced or James's father is dead
- Whenever Deborah mentions James' father, it is almost always as a means of insulting James by comparison
- James' mother (Deborah), aunt, uncle, and uncle-by-marriage have all been seen on the show, but James' father hasn't.
