In an alternate timeline, Rarity and Pinkie Pie chose to join Fluttershy in defecting from Equestria.
Both of them have their reservations about declaring war on the humans and converting the entire populace to Newfoals. In most timelines, they're not brave enough to act on it...but one timeline exists where they did, leaving the Mane Six split down the middle three-for-three with Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash on Equestria's side, and Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie on the humans' side.- With three of her friends cutting ties with her over it, Twilight begins to more strongly doubt the righteousness of converting the human race to Newfoals, but Applejack and Rainbow Dash double down on weeding out potential traitors and fighting in the Equestrian military.
- Half of the Elements defecting may weaken the ponies' faith in their cause of "bringing harmony and friendship" to the humans and/or persuade more to join the resistance.
- While Fluttershy still becomes a war medic and treats injured humans and ponies, Rarity makes clothing for refugees and soldiers, and Pinkie uses her parties to lift their spirits, providing smiles and laughter where they are most needed.
- If any of Rarity's or Pinkie's family members (Rarity's parents, Sweetie Belle, the Pies and/or the Cakes) have doubts about what Equestria is doing, they might choose to leave Equestria or join the resistance as well.
- Because Rarity and Pinkie aren't in Ponyville when it gets bombed to the ground, they survive the war.
