The “hunters” that Hallam kills in the woods actually are sweepers sent after him.
- While Hallam is undoubtedly traumatized and paranoid, there’s a fair amount of evidence for the “hunters” actually being CIA sweepers. Firstly, they refer to the target as “him” while scoping out Hallam moving in the brush. While some hunters will refer to animals as such, it seems likely that they are after Hallam because of the key fact that they aren’t the least bit surprised that Hallam is fighting back. It seems more likely that an actual hunter would have been freaking out that a guy was talking about the “reverence” of killing while stalking them through the woods. Instead, they seem to take it in stride and immediately start shouting back despite very little in the way of hostile action by Hallam.
