"Gumball" was chosen as the code word that the race is being organized because it's not a word you'd associate with underground auto racing.
- It's basically Spy Speak. If someone around you said "Gumball" for no readily explainable reason, you might think they're crazy or on something. However, if you knew there was an underground road race called "The Gumball Rally", you might understand what they meant when they said "Gumball". The trophy being a gumball machine came later to justify the name.
