Klaus, Claudia, and Jamal all used to work together.
- This would explain how the three are already well acquainted with one another, but the very nature of their acquaintance is still a little fuzzy. Either Klaus and Claudia are former Interpol agents themselves who went rogue, or perhaps Jamal actually used to be a part of their old smuggling ring, but decided to go straight. This explains why Klaus and Claudia try desperately to stay one step ahead of Jamal, because they know he's aware of their activities. As we see later, Mario is clearly an undercover agent who was commissioned by Jamal to spy on them so when he does finally apprehend them, he'll have a witness to their activities, and thus have evidence to convict them on.
The "diamonds" are actually crack.
- "Diamonds" is merely a codeword to, in-universe, disguise phone calls, and out-of-universe, get drugs past the censors. It makes more sense than effectively smuggling and trading money for money.
