The final form of Rimuru / Satoru Mikami is a TARDIS (Mk 103, i.e. of external human shape).
  • The reason? Rimuru is definitively Bigger on the Inside, has been endowed with an artificial intelligence support and in the second-last chapter of the novel Rimuru becomes able of Time Travel. In the last one, of travelling through different universes.

  • Alternatively that is a case of Convergent Evolution, i.e. independent evolution of similar features in different kins (for instance, the eye of the octopus and in the mammals). In this case, the common request is to be able to travel through time, space, dimensions.

Elderly monsters look younger after Naming due to altered age categories.
  • As the world is based on D&D mechanics, it stands to reason that "evolved" creatures like hobogoblins have a longer lifespan than their lesser cousins like goblins. When named they do not get younger but due to their increased lifespan they are now in a younger age category and thus appear physically younger. For example a 50 year old human does not look as young as a 50 year old elf, changing your race from the former to the latter actually makes you a teenager as elves go and you will look the part.
The preferences of the namer of monsters influence some of their final appearances after evolution
  • As it is noted (and hated) by fans, the appearance of some monsters named by Rimuru became more human-like in appearance, so even if their race had pre-existed, it's possible that Rimiru's preference for human-like appearances turned a number of the named monsters into more human-like forms.
Raphael is the reincarnation of Shizue Izawa.
  • Great Sage was only able to evolve into Raphael after sacrifice and integrate the Degenerate skill which belonged to Shizue. Skills are tied up in the soul. Only after evolving does Raphael have start to show signs of having independent thought.
The Angels are part of the system developed by Veldanava
  • Veldanava likely has already seen bad futures where civilization progresses too far and the balance becomes completely disturbed, so to prevent that he made a system that does a full evaluation every few centuries and wipes any nation that passed the threshold that were preset.

The Light Novel and all adaptations will address the romantic aspects in greater detail
The Web Novel notably had Rimiru remaining a Celibate Hero to the very end, even though numerous characters had formed an Unwanted Harem to the point even Milim joined, as Rimiru found it "more trouble than its worth". Considering Rimuru did think Shizue was meant to be his lover though before the Prophecy Twist, he's not immune to romance anymore, and he does care about the various members of his Unwanted Harem.

So, since the Light Novel and other adaptations have been pulling Adaptation Expansion on many aspects, it will do the same for Rimuru and his Unwanted Harem, either by having him reciprocate their feelings even if he doesn't feel he can sexually satisfy them, or by going further in depth as to why he can't be with them, both being a way to provide proper closure to said element which is largely neglected in the original Web Novel.
