• As Geordi suggested, the Galaxy class indeed has critical design flaws that led to several warp core breaches due to minor ship damage that never would have destroyed Constitution class ships. This is from complacency due to the reliability of the older designs. This occurs in real life, such as with the Challenger space shuttle explosion. While there was no significant design difference in that situation, the success of all the previous missions led to gradual relaxation of launch safety parameters.
