• Spock is quoting strict Starfleet/Federation dogma when he says "the scientists overlooked one fact: Superior ability breeds superior ambition." This is why he's so alarmed and appalled when Kirk, Bones and Scotty express admiration for the genetically engineered Khan. To him, this isn't just strange human behavior, this is tantamount to heresy.
