WMG / Spyro: Year of the Dragon

During production, Insomniac accidentally switched the battle music for Spike and the Sorceress around.
  • This troper always thought the final boss theme in the Greatest Hits version of the game sounded a bit tame for the big climax of the game. But did anyone else ever notice how you can hear some parts of Agent 9's theme in the music that plays during the battle with Spike? And how in the Sorceress battle music, some of the passages share a slight similarity with Sgt. Byrd's theme? It could be that the music that ended up playing in the fight with Spike was originally composed for the Sorceress-battle (and in the European version of the game, this theme is used for both Spike and the Sorceress) and that the music we heard in the Greatest Hits version of the Sorceress fight was originally meant to be Spike's theme.

The rescued characters in Midnight Mountain were going to be required to reach The Sorceress
  • It always seemed odd that, despite there being characters who are rescued in the Midnight Mountain, and even have the icons in the Atlas, they never show up after the fact. Since the rescued characters always took Spyro to the boss battle, most likely, these guys were going to help open The Sorceress' Lair in game. This was most likely not implemented due to the time constraints, and so Insomniac just went with the 100 Eggs requirement. To give an hypothetical guess on what they might have done, the ones from Crystal Islands and Haunted Tomb would have gotten rid of a magical seal on the door, while the Lara Croft expy would have picked a physical lock, and then when those were removed, Agent 9 and the Sheriff from Dino Mines would have shot the door off it's hinges.
