The Prophet was Rasputin
After all, he's an immortal, unkillable being from Siberia.

Jaqueline Natla will be the Big Bad in this game
Considering she was the main villain in the first TR game as well as the first reboot series, it's expected she'd appear as a Big Bad here or in a future game.
  • Jossed. She doesn't appear at all.

One of the Endurance survivors will die
While Jonas is shown to be part of the game, Reyes and/or Sam may be brought along, with one of them dying.
  • Jossed. Jonah is on death's doorstep at one point, but he lives. Sam and Reyes don't show up, save for some photos or newspaper snippets alluding to the survivors of Yamatai.

The Trinity group will have much more weight in this game.
They were briefly mentioned if you got all the GPS collectibles in the first game.
  • Very much confirmed with videos showing that the mercenaries Lara fights are connected to the Order of Trinity.

Lara and Sam will become a romantic couple during the events of the game.
This prediction was inevitable. Might as well place it here early.
  • Sam supposedly will not be in the sequel, from the creators. Unless it is a mislead, this will be jossed.
    • Very much jossed. Sam and Lara became distant after the events of the interquel comics, and it's revealed in one of the documents that they still aren't talking.

We haven't quite seen the last of Himiko's powers.
There is still some small residue of Himiko's essence in Sam.
  • That was a plot point in the interquel novel, and she was apparently cured at the end of it.
  • A major plot point a couple of comic arcs after 'Rise'.

The rebooted universe has Precursors, possibly, a version of Atlantis.
Jacob specifically said to Lara that the Divine Source was not, in fact, divine, but a purely mortal object from a long time ago. He could simply be referring to Byzantium, but he may also be referring to something much more ancient and mysterious. Namely, a Precursor civilization that is responsible not only for the Divine Source, but also Himiko's immortality and powers. Besides, the similarities between the Oni and the Deathless Ones are too great to be ignored. It seems highly likely that, at the very least, the supernatural elements found in Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider come from the same source. As a nod to the classic Tomb Raider games, the Precursor civilization could be Atlantis.
  • Some tangible evidence seems to exist for this within the game: One of the relics Lara can recover certainly looks suspiciously like an astronaut. She even does a verbal double-take when she's examining it.
  • Going further- the name 'Trinity' refers to the three Atlantean god-kings, with the group's official purpose being to locate and quarantine Atlantean relics at their behest, to protect the younger civilisations from messing with forces they don't understand. Of course, Natla has either co-opted the whole organisation or a splinter faction within it, and it's this version of Trinity that Lara has been facing.

The rebooted series shares a setting with Uncharted.
But since Nate retired a couple of years before the Endurance crashed, and only came back for one last job a few months after this game, he and Lara will never meet, interact or even hear of one another.

Richard Croft
is the Mysterious Voice in communication with Trinity.Am I the only one that see's it? It's obvious! Especially with the Stinger at the end. I almost didn't spoil it because they keep hammering it into your head that yes, he's the head of Trinity.
  • Jossed. Super Jossed. He's actually killed by Trinity.

Lara's Uncle Atlas
is the Mysterious Voice in communication with Trinity. The Blood Ties DLC established he wants to get his hands on Croft Manor, ridiculed Lara's father over his theories, resented him for interfering with the DeMornay family's politics by marrying his sister, Amelia, (to say nothing of his anger over his sister's death in Tibet) schemed to get Lara removed as an obstacle by suggesting she seek therapy (apparently hoping to get her committed) over her experiences on Yamatai, and later attempted to get her disinherited.

Trinity is another front for the Templar Order.
You know one of us tropers would inevitably say it. Their modus operandi is even similar.
