Angela purposefully framed Alan

In any other Sleepaway Camp and indeed most similar films, Alan would have earned his death at some point in the film. At the end, he's horribly beaten, scarred across the face and most of the other campers and even some of the staff are certain he's responsible and likely will continue to think so if Angela escapes (Or the plausibility of her return is as questionable to the characters as it is for the audience) So by the end, seeing as he was always picking on those weaker than him and often behaved so violently towards others, he's the chief suspect. If he isn't investigated by the law, he's at least ostracised by everyone around him (More so). And Angela claiming to protect him is going to look even worse for him in the aftermath. God forbid any of the families of Angela's victims find him. His stepbrother's grisly death may find some way to harm him back home (What might his parents be like if he's ended up this way?) and really his future just doesn't look bright. This is his punishment. He's avoided death but he's left with a life not worth living.
