Nurse Ratched will be a Jerkass Woobie
- It’s a villain origin story. There’s literally no way they won’t try to make her into one.
- Half-confirmed. While a villain, she is given a horrific Freudian Excuse and a Love Interest.
The series will begin as Prequel but eventually evolve into an adaptation of the book
- A couple of series that were presented such as Hannibal, Bates Motel, and Gotham that eventaully went this route partly as a natural progression of the story partly for the shock value of going this route.
Peter, the young boy in the institution, will grow up to be chief from the original movie.
That child actor looks A LOT like Chief in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and despite drawing attention to him several times the only time he makes any difference in the plot is when he brings the guard's attention to Wainwright. At some point he's released back to his abusive household and begins faking his disability. He ends up being put in the same hospital Mildred currently works at by either coincidence, or Nurse Ratched's planning for whatever reason. She's aware he's faking it but since it makes it easier to control him she goes with it.
The woman following the red string in the show's opening credits isn't Mildred, it's Gwendolyn
- Gwendolyn is treated as Ratched's Morality Pet Closet Key and Mildred is given a lot more sympathy by the show once they become an Official Couple, but we all know it can't last if Mildred is to become Nurse Ratched - Mildred severing the string when the red-haired woman reaches her is symbolic of her cutting Gwendolyn out of her life, possibly Foreshadowing that Mildred will eventually kill Gwendolyn and finally let her Nurse Ratched persona consume her.
