If demographic trends hold steady, this next vote should be the one where the statehood crowd wins out. May or may not be a factor in the apocalypse.- Jossed. As of 2023 it hasn't happened yet, but it's still likely.

People who came on ships to work on the plantations of 16th-century colonial Puerto Rico generally were not there voluntarily. And they're represented in-game by dark brown discs, to boot. The buildings are powered by Functional Magic.
Some are capable of as much as doubling your production efficiency in certain tasks, and can increase corn profits by infinity percent. No real building at that technological level could contain such an increase. (Hacienda? 2x plantation growth? Really?) Therefore, it is magic.
