PhoneShop exists in the same universe as Spaced and The Inbetweeners
Lance, Derek from Spaced and Simon's Dad from The Inbetweeners are the same person.
- After torpedoing his executive career with his phone card investment, he left the PhoneShop Group for a time and set up his own comic store business. Sadly, this collapsed after Bilbo poached Tim back. Needing to support his family, he went back to the PhoneShop Group and ended up as the manager of the Sutton Branch.
- His very high sex drive (referred to in both PhoneShop and The Inbetweeners) has led to him being in simultaneous relationships with two women in different parts of suburban London — Simon's Mum and Shelley. His often being away from his family due to work is actually a cover story for spending time with Shelley. When he's with her, he maintains an air of general incompetence which is actually an act that can explain away any irregularities in his life that she might discover. He deliberately ensured that his and Shelley's wedding was not legally valid because he was already married and feared being prosecuted for bigamy. He doesn't want children with Shelley because he's already got two, and they're more than enough. The strain of being in two simultaneous relationships is occasionally overwhelming, which is why he occasionally smokes weed and temporarily separates from Simon's Mum.
