The events of Spiral Scratch can be reconciled with the events of The Last Adventure
- The circumstances of the Sixth Doctor's regeneration were also depicted in the Big Finish Doctor Who audio The Brink of Death, which sees the Sixth Doctor having his body and existence stolen by the Valeyard, requiring the remnants of the Doctor's psyche to reach out from the Matrix to cause his past self to regenerate "ahead of schedule" to break the Valeyard's link to his timeline. It is possible that the regenerations depicted in "Scratch" and "Brink" could be different perspective of the same event, since most of the Doctor's last words in "Brink" were said when Mel was apparently unconscious so the Doctor is essentially just thinking about his imminent death rather than outright talking to himself. It is not impossible that the Doctor could have recovered from the chronal energy drain he suffered here on his own, but the damage he suffered from exposure to the radiation around Lakertya finished the job.
