The Loop is...
  • The cycle of the universe being destroyed and a new one beginning.
  • A time loop the Owls were stuck in.
  • The events of the game.
  • The cycle of the death of all life on the planet and new life emerging from it.
  • A completely theoretical non-existent event; the Owls panicked and almost destroyed the world for nothing.
  • The concept of infinity itself; it was just too abstract for the owls to accept.
  • More than just the death and rebirth of the universe, it is apparent that each and every new world within the loop is exactly the same with the same past and same future thus effectively acting as if within a time loop, or simply put an eternal recurrence where each and every being within it has a set destiny that can be calculated exactly using advance mathematics down to the minute detail such as the name of someone who will visit your hollow graphic message from thousand or even tens of thousands of years into the future, effectively make freewill and thus the meaning of life completely useless, enough to make the "will to power" oriented Owl race go mad in anguish. But as Noctae noted in the game that by visiting him Otus himself has created inconsistencies within his theory, so maybe the Hex worked the first time and thus the Loop has already been broken, or even more depressing that the Loop was never really real, that instead of a perfect cycle of recurrence it is more like a spiral, where events in each new world simply deviates a little from it's neighboring loop, but as a whole the world is different and will become more different each time.
