The Future Foundation livestreaming the trials is a Chekhov's Gun

Future Foundation Worker: Oh, and next time, Chief says we should air the trials live.

Makoto's going to remember that information and use it again at a later date to speak to the outside world, most likely to try and persuade them to let him and all of the others out of the terrible situation they're trapped in.

Fuyuhiko will die and Peko will live

Especially considering this fanfiction is not pulling any punches regarding putting the characters in despair.

Additionally, Nagito has already started considering it as a possibility. With his luck, intelligence and influence on Mikan, he has a good chance of causing this to happen.

Nagito: They're codependent, no? If we play it right, we can leverage their relationship to bolster their hope. Do you think we should target Fuyuhiko or Peko?
Nagito: Peko is the obvious choice, since her life centers around Fuyuhiko. If we ripped him away, she'd have lots of room to grow. Yes, massive potential.

Sonia will be a Chapter 3 victim

There are a few reasons why this might happen:

  • The pairs make it hard to kill anyone and get away with it, however, Sonia excluded herself from them, meaning that she doesn't have this same safety net. This means that if she falls asleep (which will happen eventually if the motive stays in effect), she's vulnerable to anyone who is able to get through the locked door.
    • Fuyuhiko being able to pick locks (mentioned when he explains how he was able to open the blackmail box) might be a Chekhov's Gun that's used here.
  • Sonia looking at the cameras makes it difficult to commit a murder, making her one of the most obvious targets for anyone planning to get away with a murder, since Sonia could report any attempt almost immediately using the controls for Monokuma.
  • Additionally, between Fuyuhiko's open dissent and the lines implying a quieter disproval even amongst the people going along with the system, Sonia is one of the least popular people in the group right now. This could also lead to her being targeted, with the culprit possibly being partially motivated by morality (e.g. disapproving of how Sonia has locked up almost half the group as prisoners and cut them off from the other half.)
  • To a lesser extent, it would follow the common Danganronpa trend of having a character get a lot of screentime right before their death.

Fuyuhiko will be the Chapter 3 culprit.

When Fuyuhiko was trying to kill Makoto, he says he is okay with being executed as a result, as he would be punished for the crime revealed by his blackmail (killing a family member). However, Fuyuhiko's blackmail also implies that he treated Peko horribly during their time as Ultimate Despair, something he would react very poorly to if he found out. In a later chapter it is revealed that Fuyuhiko doesn't know this yet, as Peko was the one who looked at his blackmail.

However, if no murder occurs, Fuyuhiko will inevitably find this out through the Chapter 3 motive. This theory proposes that he would become The Atoner, committing a murder not only to save everyone else from the motive, but to punish himself for his actions as a Remnant. Unlike with Makoto, this plan would be successful.
