WMG / Eternals (2021)

Beware of unmarked spoilers

The “H” Eternal that’s in the Exclusion is Hyperion
All versions of Hyperion are Eternals, however it’s never really mattered to any of their narratives.

At least one of the core cast will be revealed as a follower of Uranos the Undying
We’ve been told that they’re mostly rehabilitated and living in seclusion on the Oceanic Watch. But issue one only lists six Eternals there other than Oceanus himself (who reportedly fought against Uranos). Plus Sui-San, in the Exclusion. There are 100 Eternals. Did their omnicidal leader only have six followers? Or are there more mindwiped by the Machine…

Druig’s arc will bring him closer to his film counterpart
Gillen is well aware of the MCU approach to the Eternals, and mentions that it’s one of the reasons he took the job on the comic.
  • Averted. MCU Druig is more anti-heroic and rebellious, while comic Druig is The Starscream (for a brief time).
  • Ah, but will he be a cute Irish Ensemble Dark Horse next time he comes back from the dead? With Eternals it’s never too late for that sort of thing…
  • Well, he died and came back pretty much the same, except he had part of his memory wiped.

Excluded ‘E’ and ‘T’ are Eros and Thanos
It’s mentioned that two Eternals are in there after an attempt to rewrite their core personality went horribly wrong. That would fit. Of course, a version of Thanos - in a ‘Frankenstein’ body - is still on the loose. But could he be a duplicate?

Sersi has a specific role in Eternal society that’s not yet been revealed
She wasn’t mind wiped with the others - has she ever been reset or mindwiped in that way? Zuras refers to her separately to the “hero units”, and considers the threat the others cause to the status quo aggravated by her presence. It’s also implied that she’s helped to preserve the status quo many times before.

Sersi hired Jack of Knives, not Zuras or Druig
Zuras didn’t refer to them when speaking to Domo, and Druig paid them off for the vote, but not for that...
  • Confirmed - although Jack was only paid to threaten, not to follow-up on the threats.

The Celestials aren’t done with them yet
We know there are alien Eternals as well - we’ve seen Kree and Skrull versions. How many actually complete their mission? And if the earth’s Eternals were an exception, what’s the mission for the others?

One of the main cast Eternals is a descendant of Oceanus
The Heretic reveals all three Eternal Patriarchs had children and grandchildren but doesn't detail who is descended from Oceanus. It's very likely at least one of the Eternals we are familiar with is related to him but it hasn't come up in-story.
  • Ajak and her so far unseen parents Amaa and Rakar.
  • Sersi and her parents Helios and Perse.
  • Makkari and her parents Mara and Veron.
