What if the entirety of chapter 5 is in the player's mind? I think that Emily actually committed suicide between chapter 4 and 5 because she was acting very depressed and had things on her messenger profile hinting at suicide. So what if the chapter 5 convo is just all in their mind so they can have an actual final conversation with her? That's why all the questions are so vague and mundane.
This then brings up the point of one thing that isn't vague, how she gets back together with Brad/Travis. Well maybe whoever she dates killed himself too because Brad always has something on his messenger profile about how he always messes up and hurts people then on Travis' he talks about how depressed he is about his dead dad. So maybe that's the player just thinking they're together in the afterlife now. Then finally at the end, when it says you go away, it actually just means you've finally started to cope with it and get over it
