You're Joe.
  • You only think you're playing a video game, but you're actually a jerk who's murdering people just to save your relationship with your ex. These things you see are your conscious, and it's time to face up to what you have done.
    • Or maybe I'm the Parasite who's manipulating you to get you to kill yourself, hmm? How do you know the truth?
      • What if it's The Queen of Maggot's who's manipulating me to get you to kill yourself?
      • What if The Queen of Maggots herself is really a victim of the same nefarious plot? The Cat Lady's main character could be the one who's truly murdering everybody.

How deep does the rabbit hole go?

This is a Gnostic parody
  • Joe's violent rage is akin to the Orphic cults where Orpheus went crazy because he couldn't get his chosen wife back. Nobody else would suffice so he went crazy and died. This whole idea of Gnosticism is to long for Sophia (and the namesake matches) which is the Sacred Feminine, The Goddess, who represents the Monad, the thing from which we all came and what we all long. Joe's efforts and craziness demonstrate this Orphic insanity where he's trying to save his wife by murdering the incarnations of Sophia. Sophia shouldn't be incarnated because incarnation is considered evil in Gnosticism. It's Yaltaboath, the Demiurge (the blind god), who is trying to maintain his power where he enslaved all of us in fleshy bodies. This makes sense considering the other games produced by the same author, where he uses very similar subscripts.
    • Tales is a story about magic concerning beliefs. This is Hermiticism, and even the only self-aware character (The Divine Spark) in any of the stories is Merlin, who is a Hermetical magician, straight from the story. That is known to be the work of Gnosticism. Hermiticism goes with Gnosticism, sharing the same belief system. Hermiticism is basically applied Gnosticism to create magic. Most of the stories mentioned in the catalog are in fact Gnostic.
    • Hermiticism is all over Herioine's Quest, not to mention the main character represents the Sacred Feminine, since she appears, is a woman, and saves people who aren't self-aware (Divine Spark).
    • The Cat Lady demonstrates Hermiticism. The magician is Queen of Maggots, who manipulates people into becoming murderers, and even uses their efforts to create more parasites. The game is very dark and disappointing in the end which demonstrates the failure of Yaltaboath, at how this world is evil and basically sucks, that we need to liberate ourselves through going crazy, dying, and returning to the Monad, where we are originally from.
