Last anyone heard, they raided Arasaka Tower and even managed to bring down Adam Smasher himself, but after that, nobody knows." - Rather than a Street-Kid again for a second season, the next season could focus on a Nomad or a Corpo, similar to the Lifepaths in the game.
- There may be peeks into parts of the overall Cyberpunk mythos that weren't seen in the games: such as biotech and stuff like Exotics.
- Another potential setting for a second season would be the Unification War between the NUSA and the rebel Free States supported by Arasaka that took place seven years prior to the events of 2077.
- Going further back, a second season could go into more detail about the final days of the Fourth Corporate War in 2023 leading up to Johnny Silverhand’s fateful raid on Arasaka Tower, while providing a chance for audiences to see Morgan Blackhand, Boa Boa Weyland and other characters from the tabletop for the first time.
- An adaptation of the 2013 trailer centered around a reformed cyberpsycho being recruited into Max Tac. Given how much focus is given to cyberpsychosis in the first season, it would be fitting for the 2nd season to be about someone who recovers from it.
Much like David, Rebecca will also have a drink order named for her at the Afterlife.
- It’s not often an edgerunner’s final moments is to tell Adam Smasher, the NC Boogeyman himself, to go fuck themselves while getting in one last shot at him. And given how Rebecca is easily the show’s most popular character, this will be reflected in future content to 2077 as well as the tabletop.
Lucy's vision of David on the moon are early symptoms of cyberpsychosis.
- Near the end of the series Lucy is seen with a mirages of David. But what if those are not reflection of her memories, but halucinations, and Lucy's traumas are taking toll, turning Bittersweet Ending into full Downer Ending?
- Not likely, given that she doesn't have the characteristic glitched-out eyes used to represent cyberpsychosis here.
- Further compounded to not be the case as she takes a deep breath and smiles as she basks in the sun like David did in the braindance, making clear she's trying to process grief rather than having a mental break that could lead to cyberpsychosis.
Adam Smasher can handle all of his cyberload because he's actually no longer alive.
- Smasher, as a long-time Arasaka employee is just an engram on a Relic chip. Which is why he's still so effective over 50 years after the 4th Corporate War. If he's ever defeated or finally goes psycho, a new body is prepped and the most recent backup engram loaded into it. Smasher has gone through dozens of bodies by 2077.
- That said, you still permanently kill Smasher if you raid the tower, what with Alt basically absorbing Mikoshi.
- Nah, Smasher's already gone Cyberpsycho, since before 2023. His stats in Shockwave (2023) list his EM Pathy stat as "Yeah, right...", and the fact that when he was freelancing, all his gigs REQUIRED Collateral Damage and civilian casualties? Yeah, He'd gone full Cyberpsycho; He just happened to break in a way that was controllable by Arasaka.
- According to Mike Pondsmith, Smasher is a high-functioning Cyberpsycho who has the benefit of having state-of-the-art cybernetics custom-made for him as well as having a job that allows him to commit mass violence. He went flying over the edge so long ago and in such a specific way to his individual psychology that he's since come back out the other side coherent but still violently insane.

- Yes she'd suffered a cranium rupture but being that her brain was still intact that's well within the capability of medical techs to fix so long as she wasn't dead too long. Combined with David having taken out a Trauma Team plan for the whole crew using the pay from various gigs after he took over, he wasn't risking a repeat of what happened to the last person he cared about, they got to her shortly after Smasher left the area. She's still in recovery under pseudonym at one of the hospitals in Night City so she ended up missing rent and losing her apartment. Kiwi would have as well but the contract David took contained a Judas clause at his request that she tripped by turning on them automatically terminating her plan.
