WMG / Covert Front

Go To

Covert Front and Submachine take place in the same universe.
  • The chair that Kara conjures up along with a projection of Karl von Toten is the same as the one found in Submachine 2: The Lighthouse.
  • In the ending of Episode 4, we can see Karl working on a device similar to the navigator from Submachine 3: The Loop.
  • The Lab in Submachine 4 looks a lot like the buildings in Lisbon, and the sewers below Von Toten's mansion have the same red scheme as the Lighthouse's sub-basement (excluding the redo that changes it to brown). Von Toten's workshop is even protected by a force field like those from Submachine 7.
  • Both game series share a common theme, namely the mystery and frightful potential of technology to surpass human expectations (the machine that can conjure objects from thoughts in CF, the submachine(s) and their vast, convoluted network in SM).
  • Given the evidence, it can be assumed that somewhere along the line, Von Toten's ideas were turned into nightmarish reality when the submachines were built.
  • The Root was used back in 1904, which is exactly the same year as the CF series.

Kara is the unnamed protagonist in Daymare Town

That's where she and Karl von Toten wound up after the events of the fourth game. During your searches through Daymare Town you'll come across a couple across several portraits featuring a man resembling Karl von Toten. Given that he's an inventor in a very barren land, it would make sense that he would be considered a person of influence. This would probably all take place some years after the last Covert game which would explain why the protagonist is so much mote haggard looking than Kara.
