McBell is actually a clone of Echo/Maggie.

I mean, the similarities between McBell and Echo are quite obvious if I'm being honest. Here's what I've gathered:
  • Starting all the way back to page 15 of Chapter One, Oats asks McBell what her story is after considering her to be pretty special, and the latter responded on the last two panels by saying…
    McBell: No, it's just… I don't have a story.
    • Then on page 39 of the same chapter, McBell tells Mustard that she wanted to be a clown in the first place but couldn't remember why:
McBell: It's not that I won't say, it's just… I don't know. I decided I wanted to be a clown when I was a kid, I don't remember the reason. But since then, I did everything I could to achieve that goal… All the studying, and the training. Becoming a clown was… who I was. My whole identity. And when all you know is you want something, you lose track of why. Which I guess leads to a boring personal essay. And now… it's like I don't even have an identity.
  • Read the first two sentences of this comment by “zims” on page 33 of Chapter Four. While the entire comment itself was just for laughs, the first two sentences do at least hold some truth if we're being honest. Looking at their outfits, it's understandable why: McBell wears a black, long-sleeved shirt with thin white lines, and Echo wears a black-and-white striped, long-sleeved shirt (or in this case, a white, long-sleeved shirt with thick black lines (stripes, to be more appropriate)).
