The two games are sequential.

Shelia dealt with the teleporter accident and the strange island after the point that the original game stopped. She killed Carter in the process, leading General Lin to take over the SAI by the events of Infinite. I'm putting them this way around because Shelia's voice acting just sounds slightly more professional than in the first game.
