Ryu's intentions are...
  • Pure. Or at least they were, before he got brainwashed by the Ebondrake. Seeing how often characters are possessed by Dark Chi it isn't unthinkable he's one of the victims.
  • It doesn't help a lot that he was kidnapped by the Ebondrake prior to his introduction and in the presence of the Dowager after his disappearance.
    • Though one might wonder, why did she take him under his wing? She must've known he was up to something.
    • I assume that by that point he was either already brainwashed, and seen as an allie, or there's something about Ryu we don't know yet (see WMG below).
  • Back to the initial WMG, maybe I want to believe Ryu is good to cope with the last arc of 2018, but when Zulia attacked the Hongmoon school, he gets impaled by one of the Ebondrake's monsters. So he might've been contaminated.
    • Not to mention he got impaled after jumping in front of Cricket to protect them. I don't see why he'd do that if they despised Cricket all along. There's no reason to gain Cricket's trust at that point as they 1) probably forgot about it anyway, 2) already trusted Ryu.
    • Also, I can't recall his exact words, but if you have to fight him after all the Hongmoon students are killed off, he says something among the lines of: "You let them die, just like you left me to die!" I feel like him being impaled by a monster was step one to succumbing to darkness. But being brainwashed into thinking Cricket abandoned him after they didn't came to look for Ryu immediately, might've been the final push to the path of revenge.

Ryu has special (dragon) powers
  • There must be a reason the Ebondrake is after him.
  • And also an explanation to why the Dowager keeps him close. Why would a child be this high in the ranks with her, the Ebondrakes and even Mushin?
  • He's also aible to summon dragons like Warlocks can, despite being a Blademaster. And allthough I know Bn S is Korean, Ryu is Japanese for dragon. Let that sink in...
