The "Cobalt" bomb is actually a Matter/Antimatter bomb
The appellation given to it by the Mutants is inexact, maybe an error from successive transcriptions. What's actually in the missile is a chunk of antimatter held by a magnetic field. Press button, magnetic field is turned off, you have instant E=mc2, where m is maybe one ton. Could be enough to actually turn Earth into a second asteroid belt. (Or not. Help me with the physics here.)
